How about a list of planned activities? Some suggestions:

1. Field trip to an open breaker for coal purchases.
2. Coal mine museum tour.
3. Yuengling Brewery tour.
4. Dinner as a group.
5. Sovereign Majestic Theater showing of coal mine documentary.
6. Parking lot, out of the trunk coal related flea market.
7. Tour of Keystoker manufacturing plant.
8. Coal related how to presentations in a hotel conference room.

With the exception of #8 these are things that took place at past "Meet & Greet" events.

It takes a lot of effort to organize an event. Since many will have to travel a long distance it has to be more than just good fellowship food, food and beer. On the other hand, maybe that's all that's expected.

So members, what do you want?

Patience Grasshoppers! I don't think that's all that is expected on this upcoming day. Although it will be a be part later in the day! It's only been a couple of days since I've been asked to hold a meet & greet and only 24 hrs simce I posted it. A lot of what Yanche said is already in the works. I appreciate his imput. I have many phone call out to people and hopefully I will hear from them today. I wanted to be somewhat organized for my 1st rough draft of the day. I will post it later today and encourage your imput.

Matthew

Attention Coal Stoker People of the World!!!! I spoke to alot of people today. Keystoker MFG., the President of the Historical Society of Schuylkill County, The Schyulkill County Commissioners, DiRenzo Coal Company, Yuengling Brewery, and Myself President of The Brass Tap Tavern Inc.. Not bad for a days work. This is what I came up with so far. This is just a rough draft and is subject to change as I get more imput.

1-Tour of Keystoker Mfg. in a.m. 14th is good, 21 is questionable for them.
2-Time in the Schuylkill County Historical Museum, they have "TONS" of mining history stuff
hours open 9am-1pm. they will do a private show for us.
3-Tour the Yuengling Brewery (given) hours 11am-1pm
4-lunch
5-Tour of DiRenzo Coal Company (breaker). Under the same family ownership and management longer than any other existing U.S. Anthracite Coal Company.
6-A look at some Monster Boilers. Toured some today thanks to the Commissioners inside the Court House and the Prison(pic shown). They would love to let us tour but not on Sat. or Sun. Damn! I'm working on some others.
7-No brainer- back to the brass tap for a private cheesesteaks & beer party!(pic shown) Just to let you know, I'm a nice guy but I can treat the entire north east to a free party. You must pay for whatever you eat and drink at the tap. But I did get Yuengling to hook us up with lots of free stuff.

Feedback please

Carry on!

Matt

Hi Matt,

The 14th would be a better day for me. My niece is getting married on the 21st. I think I'll give them a lump or two of coal for a wedding present. :D Meet'n Greet,Coal,Beer,Cheese steaks, the many tours sounds like a GREAT time. You sure put things together in such short time. Way to go!

Oh man, I'm full of the stupid. I thought it was for this month. But Coalfire was nice enough to inform me that it is for May. So......

I'm in for the 14th as well. :)
