Good Morning everyone. It's been above freezing for the last few nights, about 40* last night. I think the ice has finally melted on the small Koi pond in the back yard.. Maybe I'll take a cup of Freddies coffee and hike down and take a look.

Freddie: can you believe the short-sightedness of some vehicle builders?? I suppose they think nobody would ever want to re-cover the seats.. just throw the whole machine away and buy another one !! ?? Can you just cut the old vinyl off the plywood base for the seats, then use a hole saw to cut around the fasteners and remove the remaining plugs off of the 'unreachable' fasteners from above?? Maybe whittle the wood away around the fasteners with some carefull use of a sawsall or a hand grinder with a saw blade [be carefull !]

Snowman: I can't remember if a Ferguson 35 has a live PTO or not.. those 3-pts snowblowers work OK IF you have live PTO.. but otherwise they are a nightmare to operate.. I made up a multiple belt drive and mounted a 1600cc VW engine to run the blower, and rigged the mount to work in place of the snowblade on a big dumptruck.. it worked well for light snow, but I still needed the blade and loaders for heavy snow.. They really eat up Horsepower.

It's supposed to be 60* here today, and mid 70's on Sunday, but with the added 'bonus' of thunderstorms later in the day on Sunday..

My AA260 is still making heat, DHW, heat for the shop floor, and keeping the house at a comfortable 70*... why is it that I'm comfortable at 69* all winter long, but in the spring, I'm only comfortable at 70-71* ??? Doesn't really matter,, the heat loss is less, and the coal use is way down in these temps..

Well I need to figure out how to keep the ground hogs from moving in under the front porch and the new back deck.. Anyone know if Mothballs generously scattered under the porch/deck will discourage the damned diggin' groundhogs [woodchucks] ? I'll perminantly 'discourage' them with High-speed lead poisoning if I'm able to see them coming and going,, but that's not easy to sit and wait for hours.. I've got too much to do..

Time to get moving..

Greg

Yeah, I know I was just going to Beltsville and hoping to pull the liberals' chain a little. As it turned out I got there just as they opened and no one else was around to talk to anyway. I couldn't find the variety of Azaleas I needed there and I had called before I left VA. Bummer, as I was coming back home I remembered about Betty's Azalea Farm in Fairfax City so I went by there and found them - on sale and only 6 miles from home.:) Betty's told me that they don't have their varieties of azaleas crossed referenced on the search engine for the internet. IMO that's a big mistake - they have webpage, why not put the information on it. They all most missed a $70 sale which is nothing to sneeze at in this economy. I think that sales haven't been going so well, either, as they already had everything on sale and there wasn't anyone else there at 10 on a spring Saturday. Go figure.

So I was able to get the plants I needed and then I was able to get them in the ground. Hopefully, they will all do well. I also split my saliva and used the new plants to fill in the "bimbo trap" better known as a flowerbed immediately outside my front door. Seriously, this flowerbed so obvious that only a true bimbo would trip over it. I know that's a true statement because I have tripped over it many times. You'd think after 20 years, I'd remember that it's there.

Anyway, I'm done for the weekend. I hope your weekend is just as productive. Take care, LIsa

What a beautiful day! Sunny....almost 60.

The boat seats are done. The psychologist would say it wasn't as good as we hoped, but not as bad as we feared. :) I forgot to take before pics. The back was so bad it needed all new foam, the seat wasn't far behind. I could reach most of the bolts on the back, the one I couldn't reach was replaced with three nylon "one way push pins". The seat I busted out. The holes didn't need repairing as any leakage drains into a self draining area. I could reach the very back edge of the seat from the engine compartment so some home made stainless clips for the front & some stainless T-nuts & bolts for the rear got it back together. The upholstery was a challenge! Here's a pic or two.

Lisa.... Love the bumper stickers!

One of the first cars I "fell in love" with was a relative's '64 Riv. What a car.

Nice boat Freddy! Now you have some engineers on your list as well I see. I hate stuff like that -- makes me swear out loud ... and it echos through the whole neighborhood.

MarkViii I think that blue toilet is related to my pink sink & matching pink bathtub! :woot: But for the record, I will NOT be remodeling at any point in the near future ... Nothing I hate more than working on the house. Nice work you did there though! I wish I had the patience. And you stole our washer & dryer! They somehow got cleaner in the process too ....

Lisa that's a great bumper sticker!! I need to have my buddy paint my wife's entire car with that concept -- liberals will be fainting left & right! ... but mostly left. :D On that same note, check out my pic! A nice pocket piece I picked up for cheap in that very caliber.

OOOOOH!! Riviera!! SWEEET!! Big block power!! My buddy had the same boat tail '71 with a 455. Man did we have fun in that car! Was a hit with the ladies too. Was in the same condition as that one too! :D

I've been busy getting the wifey's Marquis all set for the spring. Been parked for the past 4 months as it is every winter, to keep it from rotting to pieces. Nice rackett MA has ... salt the roads & destroy the cars ... then hand out tickets for operating said destroyed cars! WTF!! But I digress ....

Spent last couple days overhauling the rear differential seals & rear brakes. Today I finished with the pinion seal, then got ambitious & did the passenger side valve cover gasket that was peeing oil right onto the exhaust manifold. I left it that way because I love pulling into a parking lot full of liberal yuppies with clouds of blue smoke bellowing out of the grille! That's my fun on a Sunday afternoon! I went and fixed it .... but the engine is getting tired at 177K, and is starting to smoke out the tailpipe ... so I can still have fun! :D

markviii- The laundry room sure turned out nice. I like that old pink and black tile, art deco. The picutures you took make the whole job look so easy. What did it take you 2 or 3 hours for the remodel ? :D

Freddy- The upholstery job looks great to me. I feel your pain. I work on vehicles quite a lot and frequently wishing I could watch the genious engineer try to fix what he designed.

jpete- looks like something I would have drug home when I was younger. Real good project for the boys though. :verycool:

And I have a 5 shot I thought was small... Your 9mm would fit better in my pocket. I think I'll look for one at the next gun show. Lisa

It's manufactured by BTJ in Hamden, CT. Came in a box that says "DA" on the top, & on the inside ... and also on the gun itself. Shoots really well ... although it better with only 2 shots on hand. It's a little tricky to reload fast. There's a little ejector you'll see in the pic with the barrel open on the left. It catches the rim of the cartridge, so when you break the barrel, the two cartridges come out. Makes it tricky to load quickly. It's one solid unit though! Wouldn't be good to carry in anything but jeans, due to the weight (a little on the heavy side). It prints a little, but most people wont have any idea what the hell it is anyway - at least in this state. Measured diagonally from the front sight to the butt is 5.5". Overall length is 5", barrel is 3".

Edit to add that I have to pull the trigger with my middle finger ... and my hands are pretty small buy guy standards. :funny: It's the only way I get a good purchase.
