Problem with me is, my big bench is covered with metal shavings, dirt, & nuts / bolts that fall off of my cluttered little bench space. A magnet comes up with everything but what I'm looking for.
And I can't even tell you how many tools & hardware I found while pulling the engine out of the Jimmy!

Occasionally I find nice tools when my car comes back from the garage. When I take them back, the mechanic generally says "thanks" but doesn't act surprised, and I have never had one say, "Oh, I wondered where that had gone".SMITTY wrote:And I can't even tell you how many tools & hardware I found while pulling the engine out of the Jimmy!
On an even bigger bench: when I was a kid I would tie a string to a magnet and drag it across the gravel driveway, and it would always come up covered with those tiny tiny iron filings like you get in a child's science kit.

That's what happens when I try to find something with a magnet on the dirt floor of the barn. I can't believe the amount of metal shavings in there!
