Last night was very windy here in south east pa and my baro was flapping like crazy. When I woke up, I went down and noticed that me stove pipe was room temp and saw that my baro was stuck fully open. No alarms went off, nor did I smell a backdraft, but this is something I don't want to happen agian. Any tips or tricks, like a chain catch to keep it going beyond its tipping point. I would guess that a real strong draft pulled it open quickly and the momentum made it sick open and not allow it to fall closed agian.

Look into a chimney cap. I know many won't want to, but this winter alone we have installed 36 in our little corner of the world. Every single person reports NO aggravation since.....and we get some wind also.
I assume your chimney is high enough.....or perhaps we will have 300 posts on chimney construction......

Pull the pins on the flap and file the sides of the flap. If it is an RC type that is. Mine stuck and so did a friends but not after filing

A little lubrication on the pins doesn't hurt either once in awhile. I take my hand and manually operate mine to make sure it swings freely and doesn't hang up.

You may also want to check the stop tab, a fairly common problem there. It goes through the housing tube just above the right hinge. It may be rubbing against the housing and sticking the plate open. A quick clearance adjustment with a pair of needlenose pliers should do the trick if that is the case.
