 I let people dig their own holes

With that said - I run two unrelated boards - sometimes you just need to ban certain bad apples. Most of the time though, will run its course :?

YES.

I run a forum with 10,000 members http://www.mach1registry.org, it's my other hobby besides burning coal and YES sometimes you have to ban them! I have had some real idiots that won't leave things or people alone....then they come back under another name, get banned, and another...then their IP address gets banned, they they use their work computer, or friends computer, they just don't stop sometimes....geesh. I had one guy with 12 or so different login names....the problem, it won't allow duplicate emails, he had to keep setting up different hotmail accounts.....but similar emails....

Sorry about the rant... :)

I haven't placed my vote yet, but it is of my belief, YES, you can ban any member for:

1. Zero tolerance rules in regards to vulgar language, flaming other members, etc. Nasty stuff.
2. Playing games such as, posting obnoxious messages to stir up members.
3. Repeatedly braking other rules listed by the list owner even if they do not effect the core members.

I was taught right by Richard Easley & Stu Ritter from a private MB owners forum many years ago. If you wouldn't want your mother and/or young kids to read it, it shouldn't be written.

On another note, I lit up tonight. First one in many weeks. I think I'll smoke throughout the night. Makes me feel real comfortable. Especially after heavy rain all day. I won't feel the dampness in the air.''

Na....not what you think. Just a quiet blue flame and a pile of black rocks.

Moved to Feedback..

Depends, I've seen people get banned on other forums for stuff they shouldn't have and other not get banned when they should have. I don't play politics tho, you go over the line you're gone. the only question is where is the line.

Good Call!
I too run a Town MB (local Politics) and even after posting the TOS we still ended up with messes now and again. I was sued along with my wife and (2) other administrators for internet libel. We won our cases becuase...well you can't be libel for simply being an owner of a site or an officer of a site. Unfortunately one persons Insurance co. backed off and settled with the doink, ours was gung-ho to bury the twit.

Since that escapade, (made headlines of both major papers in our area..sheesh) we are even more careful because frankly nusance lawsuits are very common and tiresome to many insurance companies that would rather pay off and dump you as a high risk customer.

I didn't vote the choices are too limited, a person can be obnoxious, over opinionated, hard to talk to, impossible to convince, always wrong and so on but as long as they are not vulgar or threatening violence then they get to talk . Unless the moderators and forum owners want to dictate the content and opinions of user, since they pay the bills and do the work it is their right to do so but it should be made clear what is considered intolerable.

Freedom of speech and expression are a real chore at times .
