I currently heat with an EFM 520 and was wondering if it is possible to change the stainless steel auger bushing without removing the fire pot from the unit? Is there a shoulder in the casting to hold the bushing in place? If so, is it toward the fire or the mechanism?

It is possible to change the bushing that way if you had the right sized length and diameter rod to force the bushing inward. There is no shoulder; it just drives straight through and can be removed at the bottom of the burner plate area.

But, if you are removing the pipe, it's only a matter of removing 4 bolts and removing the bottom section of the pot. Be sure to replace the 1/4" rope gasket at the same time.
