Eldred Township Truck Accident

Anyone live near here and see this on Tuesday? Terrible accident. I never knew the guy. The trucking company is just a mile up the road from me......same place I buy my coal from. I heard that he left behind a wife and 3 kids......sad.

Sad--hopefully it was a medical or sleeping issue & not mechanical--not that any of it's good

That accident was not too far from here. I am very familiar with the area. The mountain roads around here are very dangerous and all too often unfamiliar drivers do not give them the respect they deserve. I feel sad for the man’s family. Unfortunately all signs point to driver error in more ways than one. Here is a link to a more detailed report. A sad story.

It's a beautiful area. On a side note, I drove my Mom for Easter flowers to nearby Tower City yesterday. Apparently, the potato bags he was hauling from that accident were sold to the secondary market. On a steep hill outside of Tower City, Rt 209 the buyer (about 8 cars ahead of me ) dropped a 50lb bag off the back of the truck. Drivers had no choice but to "mash the potatoes" or else take a 500 foot drop exit off the highway. Small world, eh!
