Chicopee! Ha! I delivered food to the Popeyes there on memorial drive. Can't help ya about coal for that area, though. I've only seen one coal company in Marshfield, but that won't help you. I pick up my coal myself in Scranton, PA for $155 a ton. A google search for your area reveals Bernardston Farmer's Supply, 43 River St. in Bernardston. Also Hoosic Valley coal and grain, 1 Cook St. in Adams. Hope that helps!

I've been using nut from Coal Stoves and More in Three Rivers in my 983 with great success. As of last week bagged was $290 a ton picked up. Not sure what they charge for delivery. Think they also do bulk, but haven't inquired as I'm not set up for that. Number is 413-284-4334 - nice folks up there.

For a chuckle I thought I would check on Northeast Nursery in Peabody for their coal prices. This was the response I received.

"Price per bag (50 lb) for pea and nut coal is 8.99 a bag per ton it is 436.25"

They didn't tell me if that OUTRAGEOUS per ton price included delivery or not. Needless to say I won't be buying any coal from them. :P

Now my math shows: 40bagsx 50lbs per bag =2000 lbs/1 ton $8.99 x 40 bags =$359.60 per ton price if you buy bags individualy.

Something seems funny......

Sometimes they say a PALLET, which can be 1.2 Tons. Which I think is 60 x 40# bags.

Dave

I have heard that about the pallets of coal and that might make sense. However with these guys I would be surprised if that is the case. They are also charging $449 for a cord of wood as well. Northeast Nursery is well know for being on the high side price wise around these parts.

Thanks for your replies guys. Currently I have 2 options around me I live in chicopee. There is a place in granby,ma called granby country grain I believe and thee charge 300 a ton for bagged 30 dollars for delivery and in holyoke,ma mckenney electl co sell by the pallet. They are slightly cheaper per ton but charge more for delivery so they work out to be about the same for bagged coal. I am mainly trying to look into bulk unbagged coal. I can't find any place around here that sells that way. If it was worth it pricewise I would consider bwuilding a bin. You would think judging by the price at the breakers there would be a place set up for bulk. We at only like 6 hours from there. Mabey if we showed interest a company would expand that option.

I just talked to the folks at Coal Stoves and More in Three Rivers and they do sell and deliver bulk coal. They're currently out of coal, but are expecting rice, pea and nut soon. They're good folks to deal with. Pretty sure their number is in another post above, but just in case it's 413-284-4334. Take care

$436 a ton is definitely too high. You can do much better. What a rip off!

I don't think the price quoted was accurate from Northeast Nursery.
Here is a reply back in July of last year when I inquired.
They occasionally post on craigslist as well but I just searched and didnt find anything recent - but I have found their listing many times before where they list prices for wood, pellet and coal etc.
Although $325 is high still - its about the best we can do from my neck of the woods that I am aware of (north of Boston).

We sell Nut and Pea coal at $325/ton

We offer a delivery service to Danvers which includes a forklift for up to 10 tons for $45 or you can pick up.

Please call our store if you would like to place an order at (978)535-6550.

jjs et all

I have been meaning to post a follow up to the NE Nursery coal price post. The price per ton there is $325.

Now why someone there emailed me the price of $469 is beyond me, but I have the email if anyone wants to see it.

After my original post I had to go to NE Nursery for something else and while there i saw the price for coal posted at the register for $325 or $8.99 a bag. And in the spirit of full disclosure I am planning on buying a Ton of NUT coal from them next week. Unless someone wants to split a ton with me.

Anyway just wanted to clear that up. Hope everyone is doing well!
