One reason why we are leaving New Jersey

We have 6 hens on a tad more than one acre of land. I had to get a zoning variance which permits only 6 hens, and we're not allowed to have a single rooster. My hens pasture over a fairly large fenced in area, with fencing also being a requirement. We are averaging somewhere around 3 - 3.5 eggs per day, which for the wife and I is just about enough to get by on. In retrospect I probably should have done this without getting the permit, but fear of repercussions from the neighbors (that and the township administration building and police station being not more than a stones throw from our house) led me down the path of legality.

Next to the police station is that safest location for illegal activities. Rushing on duty to get to the doughnut shop and off duty rushing home to the mistress. An obvious point of observation - those things that we view all the time we don't see at all. ....... I mean what he is doing must be legal as he is next to the police station.

The guy behind us has some chickens and a rooster, the coop is maybe 200 yards from us. . It's preferable to the rumbling of trucks hitting the the man hole at 2AM at the old house. I actually kind of enjoy it. As an added bonus he brings us some fresh eggs occasionally.

Heck my neighbor ain`t allowed to sell milk, but when I go over there to pay back the money I owe him & happen to have my empty jug with me he`s allowed to be neighborly & give me some fresh milk. I know since it happens quite often.

This is another intrusion on your liberty. As long as it's quite clear to you the purchaser that it's not pasteurized it should be your choice.

I thought it was gonna be because nobody speaks English here anymore... or because you can't make a left hand turn.... or because nobody looks you in the eye,,,, or because everybody is rude... or because you have to make $250,000/yr. to be considered working class....or because of the fast-growing sanctuary cities.... or because the Parkway is like the chariot race from Ben Hur.... or because only multi-millionaires can afford a shore house anymore...or because it's no fun to hear foreigners yelling unknown languages in Home Depot as they discuss how to partition off one bedroom apartments into small villages... or because a little courtesy on the road is unheard of....or because it dawned on you that cars jumping out in front of you on the road with two inches to spare is not normal behavior... or because the population density is actually greater than that of India.

My last buddy in NJ is leaving for Maine soon... looking for the self-sufficient peaceful, back to the garden lifestyle....

Smart man, all sewn up neatly in one paragraph. Yep, that is the NJ I know and I could not wait to move out of Bergen county. Every time I go down there I can't wait to leave again - BTW, everything is toxic down there - YUK.

I used to commute on the Parkway, one summer night I was coming home, there was a torrential thunderstorm going on, I'm shooting up the Parkway at 75mph, bumper to bumper, can't see, and fly past an accident where firemen are putting out a burning car; smoke and steam all over the place, my passenger side mirror missed a fireman's arm by .001" ` and all pretty typical...

I have to deal with that crap every day. Many days I have to work out of Hoboken and take I 80 to get there. I can't stand the place. When I come home and cross, the Delaware back into PA, I say, "Thank you Lord."
The only problem is that New York city and New Jersey are like evil mushrooms. Some body kicked them and the evil spores are spreading across the other states taking root and thus destroying whatever place they land in.
If you leave New Jersey, please, please, don't bring it with you. Leave it behind.

Funny how so many in PA drive into NJ to make a living. They either didn't leave it behind wen they moved to PA or it grew up in them in PA. As I drive to work an any hour, the a whole drivers usually have PA plates on their car. Moral: it can happen anywhere. Where there's more people the frequency of it hitting you on the head is in your favor. That would be NJ or anyplace in the NE.

When ever i have the occasion to take a driving trip west of the Mississippi, I always note that on my return east the density of buffoonish drivers increases about 50 miles into Ohio. It gets worse the further I drive east. People stop waiving their hand in a friendly hello at intersections and start using other gestures that are now more universal than when I grew up. Somehow I don't think they're pointing at the sky

People can trash talk any place down the tubes. All parts of NJ aren't like that just like all part of other states aren't always a slice of heaven. I've found a slice and it's in NJ, thank you. I live and work here. And by the way, people around here are nasty, the water tastes awful, the air stinks and you can't open carry off your property. Shhhh, stay away

Got that right. We have 4 hens right now, 3 eggs average per day, no roosters...they're just a pain and not needed if you just want eggs.

Yep. It's like that everywhere and in some areas the "slice of heaven" is becoming scarce.
