part 'B' of the great coal hunt 2011. picked up close to 2 ton of some of the biggest coal I've ever seen...about the size of a tennis ball. Got out my trusty tamper and made it alot smaller...this must be real old coal...looks like black diamonds. I almost thoought it was bit coal cause the big chunks werent as heavy as I thought they should be. My little guy 'helping' Dad makin' big one into small ones.

With a tamper- ouch! Use the truck instead and "roll" it to the right size. :D

That is the type of coal that will warm you twice -- once when you break it, once when you burn it

Breaking coal by hand builds good character. At least thats what I would have been told.

Your 'helper' doesn't look all that 'little', if they don't learn to work at a young age they'll be afraid of work their whole lives. It's great to have those guys around and good to be able to work together. Before you know it, they're out on their own.

When my kids were little ones all I would have to say is " whatever you do don`t break any of that coal into small pieces" then give them a little alone time & it would be done.
