Firebrick size

was wondering what the standard size firebrick is in a Harman MKII. is it
4 1/2" x 9 x 1 1/4" thick, I see that there is 4 1/2" x 9 x 2 1/2" thick available was wondering If I would have a hard time fitting the thicker bricks in a MK II
has anyone ever tried it.

The thinner ones are called "splits", both are available at almost any masonry supply. The spilts are about a buck apiece.

Hi chet, the thicker brick may overlap the edges of the grates preventing them from moving or moving with enough travel to be effective.

I'd replace the bricks with original size if you need to change any of the bricks.

You don't want the grates touching the brick at any time, especially when shaking. My boiler is always breaking the end bricks because of this. As a matter of fact, when the unit is cookin', stay away from the brick. It doesn't take much to break them when they are real hot.
