Hypothermia, Bob? I have a 50 year old Yellow Flame with the original hopper......hell, even the decals are excellent. Different steel....no doubt about it.

 That's some thick stuff! Where'd you get it?

sterling,

Surplus, but if you have any industrial constuction contractors around, you could check with them. Lots of good stuff in the junk pile.

I have had my koker 5 years now.

I use dry coal, empty it each end of year, spray it with black spraypaint each year and my hopper still looks like new. Not one spec of rust.

Just a helpful hint. POR 15 loves rust! Put it on clean steel and it will peel like you tried to paint teflon. Experience come from poor judgement

i empty my hopper every spring and brush motor oil on the inside. don't make them like they used to thats for sure. older is better in my book. wet coal doesn't help and coal dust isn't very pleasant either. make a new one or have one made out of galvanized and paint the outside. made an ash pan out of galvanized and has held up great.
