The worlds largest exporter of anthracite is Vietnam. Who would have guessed that?

The Groundhog mine in British Columbia, Canada has reserves of over 100 million tons (with the potential for 180 M.T's) , and it has never been mined. It appears that the most recent Groundhog mine owner I could find (Westhawk Development) went bankrupt not too long ago. The entire reserve of the USA (per the document) is only 60 M.T.'s.

Here is an analysis I found for the anthracite at Groundhog mine in Canada:

Washed Coal
Fixed carbon 82.4 %
Ash content 9.8 %
Volatile matter 7.2 %
Sulphur content .6 %
Thermal value 13,336 BTU/lb

I was recently informed:

The higher price tag of a new Axeman Anderson is due, in part, to the demand for their sales to Russia.

Haven't heard about that one but it wouldn't surprise me. Small fields of hard coal exist in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.
There was someone on this forum a couple years ago from somewhere in northern Europe (I think it was) using Anth.

About 80% of the entire world's supply is in NEPA.

Per my attachment the Groundhog mine alone in Canada has nearly 2 to perhaps 3 times the proven reserves of anthracite in all of PA, and it is small potatoes on the world anthracite scale. Could it be that the rest of the world calls some other grade of coal by the name anthracite?

Something is wrong with the data in the "World Anthracite" table. According to the PA DCNR, as of 2001 there was an estimated 12 billion tons of anthracite remaining in PA. Other information lists recoverable reserves of 7 billion tons. In any case, there is a lot more than the 60 million tons noted in the table.
