What does a full T/L of bulk anthracite look like?

It sounds to me like you simply aren't setup to accept a truckload delivery of bulk coal. If traffic is light on your street, it might be feasible to pull up a flatbed and unload pallets of bagged coal with a skidloader. It will cost you about $50 more per ton (+ the loader rental if you don't have access to one), but at least you can get it delivered and stored.

Another thought...have you looked for a local bagged coal dealer? You might be able to pre-buy a year's supply on their next load. It will cost more per ton, but after reading about how short your driveway is...I think your options are limited.

My driveway is plenty long enough for sure, but the street it comes off of is narrow (2 lanes, not a main drag), and when the driveway gets to along side the house it makes a steep downhill run to the concrete parking pad which runs along the back side of my house (and which is at the walk in basement and garage level). The concrete pad is about 30 ft. x 60 ft.

If a 70 foot long truck could back into my narrow driveway off of a narrow 2 lane road that would be a possibility. My farmer/neighbor Jay who lives right across the street from me has the bucket attachment for his tractor.

Since you only expect to burn 5 tons per year, have you considered having 4/5 pallets of bagged coal delivered and placed behind the house?

Yes, but 5 delivered pallets would be roughly $100/ton more costly than 23 delivered bulk tons.

It looks like I will be going with 6 bulk tons at a delivered cost of $232/ton from "Church Coal Firewood & Mulch" in Akron, Ohio. $225 per ton plus a flat fee of $40 for the delivery. That seems to be a quite good deal. He is currently stocking Reading pea and nut.

Understood. I was just thinking that if you had to borrow or rent equipment in order to handle bulk delivery, it might not be a large gap. There is also the "cost" of a very pissed off trucker that shows up and can't unload because the truck can't make the corner into your driveway. You could always call your local bagged coal dealers and ask if they have any discounts for summer buys or multiple ton orders.

I just sent him an email. He has made a total of 1 post to this forum, and that about 6-7 months ago. Has anyone ever heard of or used his coal delivery service?

Why not have your bulk delivery made to your neighbor's farm  :?:  Put a tarp down where it gets unloaded, then just borrow his loader at night to move it down your driveway???

The street I am on is narrow with a ditch just 4 feet off the other side. However my driveway is 33 feet wide. The first time a TT came he backed in with three cuts. The second time I removed my mail box giving the driver 50 feet instead of 33, he backed in first try.

I'd hold up a fresh Pepsi & stop any TT as it came buy. Ask HIM if he could back into your place.

The "live bed" trucks can not haul as much weight. I found one that would have delivered to me, but he could only bring 19 ton as his rig was so heavy.

He did email me back. I felt that the rate for 5 x 2,500 lb. pallets of bagged anthracite was too high, but that was to be expected for only 5 pallets, so I'm presently asking for his rate to deliver a full T/L of bagged on pallets and also a full tri-axle load of bulk.

He should have posted what delivery weights he would be willing to deal with reasonably price wise---oh well, so is life today :( If you would, get back with his rates & distances if you can--

Heres what a full T/L of bulk anthracite looks like. 24 ton.
Conveyor-belt trailer. The driver manuvered that rig right around the side of the house. Amazing....
