WOW! A NC home & 10 years worth of coal. Livin' the dream!
After watching that I think it's high time I ditch the bags & figure out a way to make this happen here ... .

I forgot to mention if you get a load and request that specific trailer, the driver can back it up thru a tighter turn than a normal trailer, by "pivoting" it on its forward trailer axle. He can raise the rear axle and lower the forward axle. I was amazed on how tight a turn it made! Watching the entire rear end of the trailer move sideways 10 feet, before it even started moving backwards. Simply amazing, I think he could've backed into anyones driveway. Once he had all the weight up on the trailer's forward axle, I believe the trailer wheelbase was SHORTER than the tractor's wheelbase. The tractor had a 288" wheelbase, and that was more difficult for him to turn than the trailer.SMITTY wrote:After watching that I think it's high time I ditch the bags & figure out a way to make this happen here ... .

What that trailer has is called a dump valve. It just lets the air out of the rear axle putting all the weight on the front axle. This makes the trailer 10 feet 1 inch shorter allowing for tighter turns both forward and backward. You can keep your 288" wheelbase. All that is is for show!!!DVC500 at last wrote:I forgot to mention if you get a load and request that specific trailer, the driver can back it up thru a tighter turn than a normal trailer, by "pivoting" it on its forward trailer axle. What do you mean that 288" is all for show? what is typical?Duengeon master wrote:What that trailer has is called a dump valve. Most tractors wheelbase are closer to 200'...alot of show trucks have 300' wheelbase, looks cool when hooked to a trailer but not practical in the real world!!!

Well, that proves there is such a thing as a trailer with a conveyor belt. I never saw 1 b4,have seen lots of the walking floors.

IIRC, a member posted some pics/video of a coal delivery with one. Pretty slick.windyhill4.2 wrote:Well, that proves there is such a thing as a trailer with a conveyor belt. I never saw 1 b4,have seen lots of the walking floors.

This is just over a seasons worth. I'm moving South..... n However, long and low gives a lower CG and seemed much easier to offload as my base is not the most level..
