The Greatest Studio Album of All Time

The Greatest Studio Album of All Time

This will be the first in a series, we'll do artists, song etc. I'll turn it into a poll and we'll vote on it.

For the studio album it cannot be live, we'll make exceptions where they might have 1 or 2 live songs on it but the majority must be recorded in a studio. No "best of's" either. One nomination per member.

I'm going to go out on a limb and nominate "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns N' Roses. The only reason it's a limb is because they imploded. IMO this band had the potential to be one of the greatest acts ever. This is one of those albums where you really don't mind listening to whole thing, every song is a great tune.

Appetite for Destruction is the debut studio album by American rock band Guns N' Roses, released in July 1987 on Geffen Records. It was well-received by critics and topped the American Billboard 200 chart. As of September 2008, the album has been certified 18 times platinum by the RIAA,[1] accumulating worldwide sales in excess of 28 million as of October 2008.[2] The album is the best-selling debut album of all-time in the United States, beating Boston's debut album Boston, which has gone 17x platinum.

Nirvana Nevermind... Changed an entire decade of music. This is a very largely debated topic, alot of rock genres to look into.

"The Dark Side of the Moon was an immediate success, topping the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart for one week. It subsequently remained in the charts for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988, longer than any other album in history. With an estimated 45 million copies sold, it is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums worldwide. It has twice been remastered and re-released, and has been covered in its entirety by several other acts. It spawned two singles, "Money" and "Us and Them". In addition to its commercial success, The Dark Side of the Moon is one of Pink Floyd's most popular albums among fans and critics, and is frequently ranked as one of the greatest rock albums of all-time."

Dude, no brainer- AC/DC Back in Black!!!

While they are nowhere near my favorite band and for sure not my favorite AC/DC album (I'm more a Bon Scott fan than a Brian Johnson fan) I am answering the question as it was asked...

The album has sold an estimated 49 million copies worldwide to date, making it the second highest selling album of all time, and the best selling hard rock or heavy metal album, as well as the best selling album ever released by a band.[2][3][4][5] On 13 December 2007, the RIAA certified it 22× Multi Platinum, recognising sales of 22 million in the United States.[6] (Wikipedia)

Being a YES head, Close to the Edge would be my choice. Although I wouldn't turn off any of the other suggestions on here if they came across the radio while driving.

Fred if the youtube problem is related to posting them here it's easily fixed, you're using wrong format. I've just fixed the directions because they were outdated. Youtube changed the format of the URL's on the share button so that won't work for now. See this topic and post your question there:

Never mind, Fred posted his issue here and that appears unrelated to this forum: http://nepacrossroads.com/viewtopic.php ... 73#p245773
