Dutch Mountain

Anyone been to the mine on top of dutch mountian? Its just above forkston rocks. The mine is still wide open to look at or go in, any info would be nice to hear.

If you expand few to see the location A on the map and zoom to about 2000ft distance it is directly at the top of the page. Completely open mine no signs of anybody trying to seal it or barricade it. Is very old still has tree trunks for roof supports. Anyone know what happened thier or why they left? Sorry directions are shabby

Sorry Fred... mountain range that separates eastern sullivan and western wyoming county pennsylvania. Mostly cabins and state game lands.

I dont know if thier are any good resources online to find any information about mines online. Hell id assume if thier was scranton residents wouldnt be loosing sheds in 20 foot deep holes all the time. :hammer:

Hiram, you may find the links on this page of interest. These people are interested in mines regardless of what they produced. There is a forum as well.

Well the abandoned mines net website its the pennsylvania bituminous mine 3rd one down. I thought these areas of coal bed was anthracite but how bout that. Well thank you Kozel. Need to spend some time searching that site for any more info. Kinda neat learning about your hometown heritage.

Nice 10 acre cabin lot would be perfect up thier. Deer in fall winter, trout fishing in spring. Lots a swimming areas in the summer.
