2009 Report Shows PA Schools Cheating

I don;t know if anyone heard about the issues in Georgia where it was found a lot of the schools were cheating on the standardized tests presumably the teachers themselves. With wonders of modern technology they can find oddities and irregularities like if a school has a lot or erasures on the tests. Seems this same thing has happened in PA but this was back in 2009. Coverup?

A "data forensics technical report," prepared for the Department of Education in 2009 and first obtained by the Philadelphia Public School Notebook, analyzed schools statewide for possible testing improprieties.

Nearly half of the roughly 60 schools flagged for multiple statistical irregularities are in Philadelphia - 22 Philadelphia School District schools and seven charters.

Among the schools flagged is Roosevelt Middle School. As The Inquirer reported in May, multiple Roosevelt teachers said they witnessed many test security breaches, and they attributed a remarkable two-year rise in state test scores to cheating.

There is a new sheriff in town, going to be interesting to see if there is hug drop in these testing scores this year.

Are we going to find out the truth now? What about the engineers, doctors, and other professionals who have their degrees and jobs all due to their grades being lies? No wonder bridges collapse and people have their arms cutoff when they came in for a broken leg. I guess giving the D student the same balloon as the A student really doesn't help anyone in the long run does it? It helps the D student's self esteem, now that's important.

The incentive to cheat on testing can be traced back to President Bush's "No Child Left Behind Program". Sounds like a good goal but doesn't work very well in the real world.

This reminds me of the age old question "What do you call the medical student who has the lowest grade point average in his class?" Answer - Doctor, the point being that even if they got to medical school on false grades they had to make the grades there or they'd be gone. Or at least you'd like to think that. Lisa

That is why 90% of the parents in any class display an "I'm the proud parent of a honor student" on their bumpers. That way everybody is happy, of course nobody gets streamed correctly or educated but who cares.
