All the time of after you have had it open for a very long time? I have the same issue, FF starts to consume a lot of memory after its been open for a while. Hit ctrl-alt-delete and check the memory usage when it starts to hang.

I believe it might be related to Flash and this is constant problem going back years. I never did resolve it.

I could not open anything for quite a while, kept getting upgrade flash messages & did so 10 or 20 times--now she works fine after a month or so of not.Who the flock knows.

CTRL ALT DEL ??? hadn't tried that

how did you clear the flash memory? The problem manifests immediately after hard boot or anytime after - all the time since the last update from fire fox - I attempted to revert but no luck

I have been thinking about saving my bookmarks -- deleting and reloading a new firefox image - but the help pages says that is not the cure all for hanging

It's not going to fix anything, that just brings up Windows task manager. Forgot to mention switch to the processes tab, find firefox and it will tell you how much memory it's using.

After opening the Windows Task Manager with CTL-ALT-DEL, if CPU Usage is shown (usually at bottom) to be 100%, and on the "Processes" tab "plugin-container.exe" is running, I've had luck with just ending that process. Flash stuff may crash, but everything comes back if you just go on with whatever you're doing.

Caution: Your results may vary. Anyone listening to computer advice from me must not have very good sources. Proceed at your own risk.

I've been having the same problem with Foxfire. I get a message that "You already have Foxfire running and to close it before proceeding" when opening the window. The problems is that I don't have Foxfire running - there is no tab open. I closed everything when I left Foxfire after the last session. THEN, a new Foxfire close button shows up in the lower left corner. This goes on for 4, 5, 6 times until I hard boot the computer. It's very frustrating. If anyone has any clues had to avoid this, please let me know. Lisa

I've experience this myself Lisa but it will always close eventually. What happens to me is FF begins to consume a lot of memory and then when I try to close it that will hang sometimes for a few minutes.

If you hit ctrl-alt-delete this will bring up the task manager. Change to the processes tab. What you'll find is FF is running. You can kill it instantly from this window by highlighting it and selecting the "end process" button on the lower right.
