I am about to reassemble a 520 (built in 55) with round fire tubes. I obtained it from someone who switched to oil , I told them they should consider keeping it but my question is in the base section near the breeching or chimney connection there are brackets for hanging a component that was not there when I rigged it out nor do I see what hangs on them in the forum pictorial. This unit did have the "turbolators " or flue gas swirling sheet metal tube inserts . Can some one help me out on what this bracket holders are for and am I then missing some components. thanks.

I assume the brackets you are talking about are what I have circled in the picture below? They are there to hold the tubulators in place, but you must be missing the piece that actually sits in the brackets. Personally I think the tubulators are more of a cleaning nuisance than they are worth. Most guys run the boilers without the tubulators installed.

They are for the rods with holes in them to hold the turbulators in place you really do not need them in the unit there more of a fly ash catcher then anything else they were designed to slow down flue gas to make the unit more efficient but turns out they fill up with fly ash and ends up slowing down or cutting off draft up to you if you want to use them or not
