Anybody have any dealings with Penn Keystone coal Company? I got a price of $189.00 delivered to VA for a trailer load. Seems cheap.

I had some I picked up off of craigslist Cheap, burned well, average on the ash, and decent heat output. I think the are a coal broker and blend from wher ever they buy coal so what I got may or may not be the same as what you are getting.

I bought a load of Kimmel's nut through them a few years ago, it was excellent coal. As Eric mentioned, they buy from a variety of sources so the characteristics can vary.

Have you called any of the mines directly for a price?

Does that include a delivery charge? If it does, that does sound cheap - I had a quote of 3 tons to Springfield for $330 a ton bulk. $330 is the same price I pay for bagged that I pick up. I'd double check with the company and if that price sticks, I say go for it. I don't think you will find anything for less delivered to VA.

Yes Lowfog, that is the price quoted and written down. I was going to drive my dump truck up to Shreman's and get 7 ton, but then there are all of the DOT rules for each state. We are only licensed in VA and WV.

Markvii, I have only been to Hegins and Sherman. I have not contacted any of the mines directly.

The reason I asked was my Mom got a quote for a delivery of river rock and then they added the delivery change. That jacked up the price 50 bucks. She would have been surprised if I hadn't asked but it still was the best price. I say go for the pen keystone coal; I would if I was in a position to get bulk coal. Good luck, Lisa
