Yep, you are right. It was 48 at my house this morning. The moon was bright and the air felt sort of crisp like Fall. It won't be long now.

Love the cold, love the snow, love the ice, love shoveling, love plowing, and love burning coal!
Can't wait to touch her off for another season!

The only things I like about winter is, Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4wd, and burning coal. I hate snow, ice and going outside in the cold.

I moved in with my girlfriend last year and we needed a quick source of alternate heat so I got a good woodstove and we burned wood all last winter. She and her kids loved being below zero outside and warm enough to wear shorts and tshirt in the house. It was never below 70 and usually around 80-90. We bought a nice Alaska Channing 3 the beginning of February but figured we would use up our free wood. Anxious to get it going and try it out though.

Yep think you'll enjoy it. The steady heat and long tending time is what did it for me. That and not sawing, splitting, stacking, seasoning etc...

By the way all my coal stove Bretheren. Hope that Good night Irene spares you any damage. I spent most of the day prepping for the worst and hoping for the best. On the coast here, it's starting to look like it might pass west of me! Fingers crossed.

I had a nice Leisure Line I bought new and used for 13 years. I know the coal thing is great. I'm not sold on the Alaska setup compared to my old LL yet but I'm also a little old fashioned and don't like change. We will see. But like I said, I'm very anxiuos to fire it up!
