What are the differences going to be between the two thicknesses? flexibility? Will they both let the same amount of heat thru them? warpage? Ive got a 6 piece glass door and broke one of the pieces and another is warped from wood burning. It costs $40 for each piece or I can switch to a 3 piece for about $45 each or a single for about $100 if I have them cut. I have 1/8" now but my door will easily handle 3/16". I thought I might as well switch the whole thing out. Im just wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of the two thicknesses. Im using nut coal. Thank you

Thicker glass is certainly going to be tougher. More resistant to things smacking into it, for sure. The glass in my Harman Mark III is 3/16" if I remember correctly. It's very noticeable the amount of heat that's blocked by the glass when you shut the door. Not sure if the the thickness difference between 1/8" & 3/16" would make that much of a difference in heat though. You'd probably never notice.
