Have a great retreat Freddy! My day will be spent in running errands and doing the little things - everything - that no one did while I was at my parent's house. Today's the day to get it all done because I'm leaving again on Monday for a get away with DK. We are taking the RV out for a week to Blackwater Falls, WV. I don't know what's in the area to do but we'll find out.
I am coming to NEPA on the 24th when I'm taking a bunch of kids to Hershey Park. It will probably be my last time as driver for my son's activities; VA has a graduated driver's license and you can't carry more than 1 nonrelated person under 18 in the car until you've held the license for a year. His groups is 4 so I was drafted to ride along. I don't go in the park but spend time visiting local attractions or find somewhere with WIFi and wait. Is there a Barnes and Noble around there? Anyone from the Hershey area have any "have to see or do" things for me to see or do while I'm there? Coal related activities - museums or stores - will have a high priority. I'm open for suggestions.
We have a beautiful day on tapped for today. DK poured the foundation for his "fire pit" yesterday and may start putting the bricks up today. It's going to extend 2 or 3 bricks higher then the ground level and eventually he'll put a small patio of bricks around it. These are the bricks I recovered from the neighbor's when they redid their patio. At the time we didn't know what to we were going to do with them but hated to see the waste. It's worked out well and hasn't really cost us anything but time. Hopefully, he will have it done before the first frost so we can have a wiener roast and s'mores. Well, I've got to hit the road. I hope everyone has a great day and weekend. Be careful, Lisa

You guys enjoy your vacation!
I can't even remember when I took a real vacation. Was before I bought this place ... I know that much. Next weekend we'll be taking our yearly "vacation" ... if you can call it that .. to visit my uncle in VT. I don't really consider 2 days away a vacation, but you gotta take what you can get. If we can get out on Champlain for some fishing for one day, I'll be fine with that.
Nice landscaping Fred! Looks mint! We have some of those same purple flowers you have here. No idea what they're called ...
Yesterday I finished an absolutely horrific brake line replacement on my buddy's '02 Expedition. What a friggin nightmare! It's only 9 years old ... and the undercarriage looks like someone commuted THROUGH the ocean on a daily basis! His radiator is about to fall through the core support. One of the support arms on the rear axle is rotted in half. Brake lines blown out .... what a horror show! Wonder if my buddy can send the bill to the state for reimbursement? They're the ones dumping damn salt everywhere when it snows ...
Took me about 4.5 hours to remove 4 rotted brake line fittings. To top that off, when I went to the autoparts store, they had no metric fittings ... so I had to reuse all of them! SO I had to relive the nightmare trying to re-install them. Was almost home free Thursday - would have been same-day service - but of course, the worst fitting ended up cross threading & ripping the brass threads out of the rubber brake hose. Of course, nobody stocks this hose. But I got lucky at a local NAPA ... even though they gave me the WRONG hose, I modified the caliper & the hose, & MADE it work. Also had to weld up a few studs in Mickey Mouse fashion to the big air cleaner retaining clamp they put on these Fords. It rotted in half months ago ... so he's basically been driving a month with no air filter! He said he wondered why it ran like crap when it rained! Check engine light is on (of course), & the exhaust manifold has a giant rot hole through it. All the nuts & studs have completely disintegrated to nothing on the entire exhaust system .... what a mess!! Thank God that nightmare is over! Tired of fishing rust particles out of my ears in the shower! Had to run the leaf blower afterward to blow pieces of his frame off my driveway!
Forgot about my De-Walt drill that started shooting smoke & sparks out the vent holes while I was drilling the brake lines out of the fittings! WTF DeWalt?!?!
Anyway, just a warning to you MA travelers out there. I ventured off my property for the first time in months ... and the police are out in FULL FORCE collecting hidden taxes from the populace! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. Don't drive in MA if you don't have to. I've never seen so many people pulled over in my life! Staties & local. They're out for blood! The state must've lost a bundle in the stock market ...
My cousin is up from FL --- she's been pulled over TWICE in ONE WEEK for going 5 OVER THE LIMIT!!!!! DON'T DRIVE IN MA UNLESS YOU HAVE DEEP POCKETS!
That's my public service message for the day. Have fun out there .... and don't drive in MA!

COFFEE!!! Yeah... Been working on an old lawnmower owned by our church, for past 4 hours this morning. Man.... has this thing been abused! The Bolt on the end of the crankshaft fell out, and the entire pully-pack dropped, causing alot of damage. I got it all back together for less than $100 of parts, but the Deck is shot. Its all bent up from whomever keeps running into "unmoveable objects". Because of this, one blade is cutting its way thru the side of the deck.
Have a good vacation Freddy. Bring back plenty of Pics to share.
Heyyy F.Fred, did you have a tornado up there? Looks like all the tools from your barn got blown into the side of your house! I Hope knowone was hurt!
Smitty, you gotta replace the brushes on those power tools, once in a while I like Dewalt's 18v tools, but I will never will buy their 120vac tools.
While its still cool outside, I'll go work on a weed-eater for a neighbor.
Have a good weekend!

This is an 18V one. It's only 5 years old, tops! I've never had to replace brushes in a drill before. They used to last forever .... I guess these cordless ones aren't built like the old ones were.DVC500 at last wrote: ...... I still have my $17 Craftsman drill that I bought in '96. Been used every day since & still works perfect.

I was at the county fair last night, saw the dealer I bought my Harman from, he had a Harman pellet stove burning. I asked him why he didn't have the Super Magnum that was on display burning, he said it gets the display area "too hot" and would "roast us out of the place". Also I saw a local coal dealer's display, apparently he's a Leisure Line dealer now, the 110 boiler was front and center along with a stove or two and a sack with a ton of rice in it.
I passed by a local oil dealer's spot...he looked a little lonely and dejected. Another oil dealer's display had a sign proudly announcing the current price for a gallon.

Yeah oil is ridiculous ....
Price shoots up like a rocket when the stock market goes up .... but then the market tanks, & oil goes down .05 cents per gallon here.

Yeah, the market lost HOW MUCH? this Week? Gas down here only went down 3 cents.

Yep - pretty much the same here.
I'm not much of a gambler, but damn - I have to with these prices. Been holding off on a tank fillup until the price dropped. 5 cents per gallon isn't what I had hoped for ...
Still waiting ......

Is it Sunday night already?? Where did the weekend go?? Life just seems to be accelerating.
I'm back to the skies tomorrow, I get back on Thursday though, a short week for a change.. Maybe next weekend won't seem like it evaporated.
Smitty: 5 mph over?? Does she have a 'I hate Cops' bumper sticker?? Or maybe it's her out of state plates?
Have a good week everyone.
