I answered a ad for a Harman stove its 2 years old the owner was told she over fired the unit and burned a hole through the inner liner :( :? ,,,,,, any thoughts is burning a hole through an inner liner possible ? Going to see the stove on Saturday...

probably the baffle plate on the top of the firebox. check the sides of the stove as well, the baffle plate is welded to the sides and may cause a split in the sides if the baffle plate warps enough from being overheated. it has been suggested that welding a "sister" plate to the baffle (sorry for the joist/rafter terminology, couldn't think of another term this early in the coffee consumption) would fix the issues caused by the damage.

That had to have been one hot fire. Yes, check the ceiling baffle and make sure it's not warped. Warped but not cracked is not a deal breaker but should bring the price down. I'd also make sure the grates are not warped. Look at the area around the hole to be sure its not warped and a good weld could be done to attache a patch. The stove sounds abused and may not be the bargain it appears. I'll be interested in hearing what you see when you get there. Take care, Lisa
