Great Anthracite Supplier in Michigan!!

If you use Anthracite and are anywhere near Clare, MI (north of Mt Pleasant) you MUST visit KW Feeds. I bought three skids (#2400 each) of bagged nut coal at $367 per skid, including tax, which is almost $90 less than my supplier in the Upper Peninsula. KW Feeds has a HUGE lot, so maneuvering with whatever vehicle and/or trailer you may have is a no brainer. Very friendly service. They have LOTS of coal on the lot, with more coming in. The owner told me that as of Sept a #2400 skid will go up to $380 for nut coal. But, since I pass right by Clare each time I go from the Lower to the Upper, it's a very convenient stop to pick up a skid and have it put in the back of my 1-ton dually. I did a mileage check, and the additional weight cost me an extra four gallons of fuel from Clare to Escanaba in the U.P. Very worth it!!

Picked up my second of three skids of nut coal this past Thursday. These are really nice folk to work with! Learned in the course of loading that KW Feeds sold 400 tons of anthracite last season, so they do a pretty robust business. As I said in my original post, if you're within 100 miles of Clare (or pass by there as I do enroute the U.P.) this is the place to get your coal. Easy off-easy on to HWY 127. Their coal prices are the best I've found anywhere in Michigan so far, so if you're looking for a supplier, check out KW Feeds.

Thanks for the heads up on your source, a little off the beaten path for me. (Jackson mi area) I picked up a skid of Blashak Nut coal for $404.00 including tax out the door, at a place call Storey Stone & Hearth. Its right by Jackson MI a little town called Vandercook Lake.

Yes, if you've found a good supplier in your area, that's the most important thing. I drive to the U.P. at least twice per month, and now that I have my third skid purchased from KW Feeds stacked and ready to go in the Escanaba area, I'm all set for this winter. Actually, I'm stockpiling as much as I can. I have a personal goal of having 5 years worth of cut/dried/stacked firewood, plus anthracite, to last me for five heating seasons. So far I have 9 2400# skids of coal, 6 chords cut & stacked, and 11 chords of logs to be cut between now and next summer. I'm not a survivalist nut case, quite the contrary. But I have a really bad feeling about where our marxist president and his cronies are taking us, like destroying the economy for a generation (Bush didn't help matters any, but Obama is far worse), so I just want to be dependent only on myself to keep the heat going if things fall to sh*t in a big way in the near term.
