Setting up New EFM 520

You don't need a black spot; just slightly darker than orange when it's been sitting for 10 minutes. The black spot may appear when you are stoking hard, such as in the morning when the unit runs for long periods of time and you'll see the dark area while it's working.

Your draft and Type of coal will determine where the air will be set not all coal is the same some need more air to burn completely others will need less air to burn completely watch the draft and coal that will tell you what settings will work
for your set up you may need more air to burn the coal completely or you may need less air all depends on coal your using
and how well your chimney drafts .

My winter setting is 170 low 200 high 10 diff timer 1.5 minutes every hr. feed rate 3 to 4 depending on outside temp
air setting 5 to 6 depending what feed rate I am using I burn buckwheat # 1 size coal it needs higher air to burn
completely being it is larger then rice coal but it feeds less coal per hr so I use less coal then using rice also buck is much cleaner and always available the price does not fluctuate like with rice does in winter time at most breakers.

I am not afraid to be confused sometime and this is one of them " The draft at the stack should be negative
.04 to negative .05 inches of water column" This is from the manual of draft measurments Isnt .04 inch of water equal to less than a sixteenth of a inch of draft. thanks in advance for any help

You are absolutely correct mark that is the way to read such small displacments but being the cheap (34$) skate that I am I may borrow my radon mitigation manometer and use that I am tighther than a cows a## during fly time in may.

upon further review I will spring for the manometer. I do have resources where I could borrow them but its an hour of time and a gallon of gas
