Thanks Rob. And that is exactly what I will be doing with the old anthrastat.

Although, I actually really like the old anthrastat's 'Axeman Anderson' sticker.

As opposed to the sterile look of the new anthrastat.

Oh well, maybe I can call Axeman and see if they have a sticker they can send me.

Take a high-res picture of the old sticker (or scan it) and have a new one printed.

Can you help me with that Rob? Do I send it out to a printing place or do you mean to just print out one myself?

There are programs out there that can print any sticker you want from a picture. My buddy has a vinyl machine that prints the sticker out. He made me some great anti islamic ones right after 9/11. toothy

Here are some close up pics of the sticker.

The measurements are:

2 inches across horizontally at the very top, tip to tip.

1 and3/4" from the middle of the flat center top to the triangle at the bottom triangle.

An inexpensive way to make stickers is just get a photo print and trim as needed. Apply with glue or double sided sticky tape. That's how I make large posters. My local Walgreens Pharmacy has in-store photo processing. You can also get up to 2 X 8 ft banners. Depending on what equipment the store has it can be printed on photo paper or poster board. For the things I do I take them a CD with my image files. You need good dpi (dots per inch) resolution for posters so the files are huge. Much to large to Internet transfer.

I'd like to take an opportunity to thank forum member Freddy for his generosity in making and sending me these A1 stickers that really compliment my new anthrastat I recently purchased from Axeman. As stated previously, the stat was without the comely little original sticker and, to my sentimental eye at least, seemed like something was missing.

Very nice indeed. Both the aged look and the new.

I would be remiss if I also did not thank Rob R for his assistance in this matter. He was the conduit to the project getting off the ground and always seems to be willing to help out others.

What a great forum!!! Thanks everyone!

Hi MoBe!

I made out just fine using the Axeman over the summer for my DHW. In fact I'm really pleased with its performance. It has no trouble keeping a fire even considering I'm typically the only person in the big house using water during the week. Even on the week ends it's only two people. Yet, the 260 didn't loose a fire. I even went on a week vacation with no one at the house, still lit and running on my return.

And, I do not have a timer. I was going to get one (I still may) but I haven't found the need.

Sometimes I would go and check out the firebox. Compared to winter the amount of coal in the firebox would be so low with a large open space from the top where the auger enters. In the winter it is packed and living up to its high BTU potential. I am burning pea by the way.

The ash has been fine as well. In fact, I sometimes forget about emptying the ash bin. Usually I change ash buckets about two weeks. One time I went longer, not even sure how long, and when I went down ash had poured over the sides of the ash bucket. The Axeman didn't even blink. Just kept running. Of course I had to clean out the ash that was in the base of the unit, and it was a pain in the ass lifting that heavy ash bucket up the basement stairs! In fact I think I had to shovel out ash into an empty bucket. The nice thing is I have four buckets and just slide one out and put another in and then take all out at my leisure.

Hello Vamp, I responded in a post you had put up. I'll do the same in a PM if you like. How is your install coming along?

The beast is in the basement :D . A friend and myself rigged the boiler in the basement. I built a ramp, used some rigging chain, safety rope, rigging straps, a come along and an engine hoist. It went relatively easy. Once the boiler was at the bottom of the ramp, we moved the engine hoist to the basement, my friend held the tag line (wrapped twice around a pole) and slowly let slack out, I picked the boiler with the hoist.

As for the gas boiler and the steam piping, the piping is all 2". There are two tees on the header for the distribution piping for the house. There are wet returns, one under the floor, and one that runs along the wall. The final size is 1" 1/4 pipe for the returns.

The gas boiler has a drop header installed. There are four two inch valves, two for the gas boiler, and two ready to receive the piping from the aa260 boiler. Be back later
