Good point, Marino would have won superbowls if he had a defense. Brady knows, and Marino knew how to fold when the pocket collapes. Ellway and Farve are exceptions to the rule they were tough as nails. They probably played both sides of the ball in high school. Kapernick was a pitcher and I think he was drafted in his junior year in college.

I guess it's a chicken or the egg question because they were more likely to try and stay on their feet to make something out of it. Part of the problem there though is you have running quarterbacks that they tried to turn into passing quarterbacks but they still have that running quarterback mentality.

Yes and that would work from the beginning of football to the sixties, but I think television (money) changed that and it is a passing league. They change the rules to all sports to make them score more and more.....even hockey! WTF is that, oh yeah the sport between football and baseball.

The best running quarterback was Fran Tarkenton. He seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. Didn't he lead the team in rushing?

Running for his life with the Vikings, but he also lead in pass attemps and possibly completions, not sure about his passing percentage though. Then the linebackers were low and slow, yes they were animals and if they played today running backs would not be as successful and they'd be bigger or they would be hurt alot more.

....and when it was a running game he running back were the size of linebackers of today.

Also todays game involves allot more passing than in the past. The running game is established for the passing game by keeping the defence in closer. The popularity of the game has really increased with the passing game too. Much more flashy then the old ground and pound game.

Not a single Philadelphia Eagle on the Pro Bowl roster. And all I have been hearing everywhere is how they have good talent. Should be hearing little talent.

Allot of guys just didn't show up. Must be nice to say a trip to Hawaii and $50g (win) isn't worth my trouble! They make so much money that they don't want to risk injury for an "exhibition" match.

The pro bowl game is bull crap. None of the millionaires want to risk an injury. Not worth watching. They really should scrap it.

Sorry to gloat but its getting pretty exciting with the superbowl coming up. The local radio station was broadcasting the pats/ravens game yesterday and even though I knew the outcome well, it was enjoyable. I certainly prefer to watch the games but the radio guys really give you more info. It was interesting. Hope you and the other pats fans are getting over the sting of the loss last week. Win or lose, I can't wait for the superbowl.
