i tried to convince him last year when he bought his house and had to replace oil fired boiler to put in a coal fired boiler . he has steam heat . I told him he has the best set up for a coal boiler . he wouldn't listen . after $5,000 for boiler and labor and $4,000 in oil now he is going to coal . I have a hitzer 82ul . he is looking to see some savings this year so I looked for something close to the price of the 82 . I couldn't find anything close . I love my hitzer any way . he ordered one today . should be in in less than a week . getting it from a dealer in winchester NH $1025 . thats $200 less than what I payed for mine 3 years ago . now I need to convince him into ordering a TT load of coal . more savings and 2-3 years of coal between the two of us .

Hand Fed Coal Stove: DS Machines DS-1600 Hot Air Circulator

Nice. I've been trying to convince my brother-in-law to switch from wood to coal. He burns wood and has access to a lot of "free" wood. Since I switched from wood the 2010/2011 winter we've had a competition of whose house is warmer. I won last year. And whenever he comes over he commented on how, "I can't believe how hot your house is."

He even went with me when I took the 3 hour drive to DS Machines to pick the 1600 up and he liked their stoves and boilers. He just won't come over to actually burning.

Yeah, I paid $1711 for mine. But, it's a one-off I had to have the legs shortened 3" so I could put the outlet at the correct height for my chimney. The hopper is made out of 1/4 steel.

The Model 82 stoves are a great value...big heat for short money. Since my dad switched to a boiler his 82 is just sitting in the corner of the basement. Maybe it's time I talk him into listing it for sale.
