Hello everybody I have A few questions for you guys. First off I was just curious if any of you have had bulk delivery in the area, Western MA. What the cost was per ton, minimum Delivery amount, and how far they deliver. Currently where I get my coal I get charged 300 a ton and a 30 dollar delivery charge for bagged nut what im wondering is if I get bulk delivery it looks like the pricing would be more like 200 a ton so I could get more bang for my buck if I go bulk. I probably will stick with my current set up for this year but im thinking of considering this option for next year, building a bin and such. My last question is If you do get bulk do most places have the capability of shuteing it in basement and if so how big of a shute do you have to build. Thank you all in advance for your responses.

Tom

The price for bulk from a dealer in Adams Mass (Hoosac Feed) is currently $285/ton with $100 delivery charge for 4 tons (the max their truck will hold). He says the price might go up soon as the breakers are charging more. I don't know if he would deliver to you. I also don't know if he sells nut, the above price is for rice.

The truck comes with a chute, assuming he could reach your bin through a window, you don't need a chute.

The farther away from the mines you live, the more you are going to get raped on coal because of delivery charges. But it is always cheaper to buy bulk. I have a post on here called "good coal, better coal" and somebody posted pictures of their delivery. It's a great example of how a delivery is done. You should check it out.
