Own a GM? Big brother is watching! Onstar tracking .....

Would you expect anything less from a company owned by the federal government? I have been actively seeking to disable this system since I bought my truck. Looks like my suspicions were proven correct:

Yes, even if you turn it off it will still track and record your speed and location every second of every day. Rip it out completely.

And now they are selling rear view mirrors that you can retro fit into any car. Part of the reason(besides no $$) that I won't buy a new car.

I hear that. Biggest mistake of my life buying new. Not just the damn payments every month - that's bad enough .... but then your insurance goes thru the roof, sales tax is enough to choke a horse, then every year in MA you get hit with excise tax based on the vehicles value. I've grown accustomed to $5 excise bills over the past 20+ years or so .... then I get hit with one just shy of $400!!

If I had taken the amount of cash I spend on the truck, taxes, insurance, and accessories, I could have built a 100% stainless steel '71 Chevy C20 with an overdrive tranny, tranny splitter (adding 4 more gears) that would have had more power, better mileage, & outlasted my current truck by several decades. Then I'd have enough left over to build another barn, re-roof the one I currently have, buy a few more motorcycles, & a few more cars for the wifey. :|
