The Coffee House is open, come in out of the rain & stay a spell. We've got fresh hot Chock Full of Nuts today. Kind of like the coffee house itself sometimes. Sticky cinnamon buns and scrambled eggs fro breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it'll get ya through!

I smell sulfur in the air. I think a few have struck *the* match for the season. You brave souls! Jumping in early can sometimes leave you sneaking a second match. Ohhhh, the shame, the shame....

It got hot yesterday! A crappy day was predicted, but it turned off sunny and got up over 80! I was planning on striking the match but may put it off another week. Even if it's just for hot water it's psychologically tough to light the coal boiler while the AC is running.

I gotta find some spare time. I have an ash pan to finish up that I've been working on for 5 months, and a battery back up or two to get going on. Always something! Hope you all have a good weekend.

I'm glad the coffee was ready early, I've been up since 4am with the little guy. At least I can catch up on my DVR backlog. Warm and humid here, a good frost wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Good morning. Is the rain over for the weekend? The Keystoker continues to chug along making hot water but the thermostat remains off. Not too much planned for today, work meeting this morning, mow grass after that and maybe sneak out tonight, we shall see.

Freddy, keep the snow away this year. It looks like my Maine trips are going to turn into a weekly thing for the foreseeable future and they will be more pleasant without snow. It will be nice when the Massholes…er tourists decide to stay home for the season too.

Good morning all,

We have rain in the forecast again this morning, too. The ground is pretty wet around here and some of the larger trees are starting to tip, hopefully no one will be in the way when one decides to go on over.

We are heading for the airport this morning to drop off my son; his great grandmother died at 95 on Thursday and he is the only one who can make the trip due to work, school and the cost of tickets to KS and back. I'd be worried since he's a minor (just barely at 17) but he has flown by himself many times and connected in Chicago before. It should be a piece of cake... His aunt is meeting him in Wichita. He will be gone a week since those were the least expensive tickets. He made a big show about packing his school work but I wasn't fooled. Packing his books and other material doesn't mean he will open them on the other side. I do have that hope, though; maybe since his cousins will be in school most of the time he's there, boredom will drive him to actually completing some assignments. Stranger things have happened. ;)

Other then that I don't have a lot planned and the rain has killed some of that. I hope everyone has a save, dry weekend. Lisa

Havent tried Chock full o nuts in years, is it good? Got hooked on Gevalia dark roast but cant justify the cost anymore and they changed it as well.

Waiting on a storm to clear out so we can fly to Indiana this morning, guess I will have another cup of cheap swill from who knows where they grow this stuff!

Morning! We are drinking Folgers this morning, but we grabbed a couple of Freddy's Sticky-buns. They are loaded with crushed Pecans, just like I like them.
Looks like it'll be raining here all day today and all Sunday. Heres some pics of the weird fungus-mushrooms that started growing in our yard last week. Some are as big as a basketball, and they weigh 5 or 6lbs.

Oh well, I'll continue to install the Pad for the DVC500...

Yep its mushroom season in september for sure. Cool and damp is what they like. As a kid we'd go hunting for morels which sold for about $25 a pound back then. It was a major score when we found a brown paper shopping bag full one time.

It's a Peets AA kenyan in the pot this morning for me. Excellent brew I must say. The beans are weird looking pea shaped and not oily but rather dry looking. But they sure make a good cup. New potato home frys, with a few sausage links cut in and some bacon too! Couple fried eggs on top and a thick slice of homemade bread toast and I'm in breakfast heaven. Only once a week for that meal but by gosh it does make the heart grow fonder when I get to have it! Got soaked walking to get the paper this mornin but now its stopped and the suns trying to poke out. Feels like Indian summer coming on Freddy. I'll take it. Everybody have a supah weekend.

PS: Since I got a delivery of 5.08 tons of blaschak nut yesterday I too am looking over my shoulder to see if anyways looking as I contemplate the match strike.

Heyyyy! You're my new best friend! Just where are you in Down East Maine & when do you leave the pile unattended? Heeheee! That's gotta be a sweet feeling to be sitting on a beautiful winter's supply of heat. Good going!

It's not 5 ton of coal, but I found three small bags of Cowboy Lump Charcoal at the grocery store marked down to $1.99 each. I usually fight with a big pile of scrap lumber to start the season so hopefully I'll take the easy way out this year. :)

I've been trying to find that lump charcoal that everyone's been talking about. I must shop the wrong stores ..... whaddya mean they don't sell it at the liquor store?!?!

I'm not enjoying this rain ... but I'm enjoying the warmth & mugginess - at least I know I won't wake up freezing in the morning, and the A/C takes the humidity out nicely for sleeping. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Not getting much done on the Blazer this week though. :x

Fruit is about done for the year. Peaches are all gone, red pears, & apples are gone. Now just the green/yellow pears left. Picked a nice fat one this afternoon. Been letting that sucker soak up as much rain as possible.

Not looking like I'm ever going to get the barn roof done. Gonna have to tarp it soon. Always sumptin' ...

Nice machinery there! 8-)

That black atv ... is that a Kawasaki? I don't recognize that one. Recognize the Honda though. That one's in real good shape! I haven't seen a Bolens snowblower in years .... looks like it could use one of my Harbor Freight engines! :D That auger would be great for ice fishing! We'd have the cops down there in a heartbeat - people complain about the tiny 2-stroke ice augers ... let alone an entire tractor! They'd call SWAT!

Good eye my young friend--yep KAWIE--You're not the only Harbor Freight fan--ours is only an hour away--it's like a day trip--we pack our lunch for that one. ;) I found that auger set up in an old silo under about a foot of real old silage. It worked perfect, but a lot better now that my partner painted it. toothy
