OAKLAND STOVE

Pierre,

His stove will run on equally well on both sizes. Since he bought bulk coal, he'll have both sizes available in his mix. Sort of a custom size coal if you will.

That is a really, really excellent stove. I can't wait for you to find out what 90 plus efficiency feels like. I noticed the check damper is right at the bottom of the back pipe on the out side. I've never seen one in that spot before. Prepare to be amazed and have people not believe you when you tell them how good your Base Heater is. You will save your self a lot of money in coal consumption compared to the Harmon.

Some steel wool and a wire brushing with a power drill will quickly get rid of that surface rust. It wont take long. Does the stove have its finial or are you going to have to find one?

Well it was a long weekend in the garage wire bushing and steel wooling, vacumed all out and used me leaf blower and blew her out , sealed all the joints today everywhere i could get , looks a hundred times better, tomm i will start polishing her, new mica is on the way for the door :)

3 hrs later came the argument with the wife  , long story short the Oakland is for sale , not something i wanna talk about but it is what it is , i bought it from emery at the stove hospital if there is any qusestions i cant answer he can he knows the person who rebuilt it , its a oakland #6 , it does NOT have a finial for the top ,it has a swing top dome also and a warming top ,i was going to buy one off ebay, all the time and effort i just put into it , just makes me mad , but i must say one thing it looks very nice , im taking offers on her but im not going to take a loss on her either , i will have pics up asap , hopefully by tuesday night , if anyone is interested in buying the stove you can pm me, i live by 10 minutes from allentown pa, thank you all for all your comments and help. :(

Wow, bummer Meat. Well, I certainly undertstand the worth of domestic harmony. Shame though, all that researching, locating and physical work. Post up the pix. What are you going to do for this winter, keep the Harmon?

I think it is a crying shame. I guess the other half wont give the Oakland a chance. If she only knew how much better these stoves are and how easy they are to run, she would change her mind.

The stove looks really nice, see what a little elbow grease can accomplish.
