Questions

Questions

PostBy: tsb On: Fri Sep 30, 2011 9:25 pm

My wife went for a long put off physical exam last week.
One of the questions asked was " Are there any guns in the house " and
are they " Locked Up "
WTF
She is 63 years old and a ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Church.
Where in the world do these questions come from ?

From your medical insurance company. They are accessing the risk of insuring you. A gun in a house makes it possible for injury or death. Having the gun locked up reduces the chances of thoughtless use.

And my response is...
"none of your business since I am not here for you to treat a gunshot wound"

similar answer i gave the supermarket when they asked for my ssn when getting a frequent shopper card....
"since you are not responsible for withholding any of my taxes or paying me as an independent contractor you cannot have my ssn"

And also:
"Are you currently in a situation of sexual abuse, neglect or exploitation?" "Do you always wear your seat belt and put children in a car seat"? "Do you use any recreational drugs?" "If you do, how much do you smoke and drink?"

My wife has to ask all these questions when you're due for surgery. One guy when asked "Do you use recreation drugs" replied, " I do not take them myself but I use them to make a profit". Arghhhh!

When my wife went to the ER they always ask if she feels safe at home and if she was being abused at home while I’m sitting there next to her. I remember hearing those abuse questions are required by law. The damn constitution gets in the way of the government just barging in the door to check on you so they get banks, doctors and probably other institutions to do their spying for them.

Information is power. We routinely inform on ourselves daily through terms of use agreements, opinion polls and the like. It is said the next generation will have their entire life recorded in digital form (facebook, twitter ... future software etc).

In the event you encounter certain questions or persons who trigger your awareness, it would be wise to consider how you answer and react as these clues are informational also.

It's a sad state of affairs wherein you cannot trust where your information goes so, be penurious with it's supply.

I was not aware of this at first, but my 5 year old son was finger printed at Pottsville Area School District in Pa.. As is every student. When I found out about this I went ballistic!!! This is how they keep track of their lunch money. Scan you finger and it tells you how much money is in the childs lunch account. Everyone I complained to looked at me as if I was crazy, parents, teachers...ect....It all fell on deaf ears. My arguement to everyone is that this has nothing to do with *censored* lunch money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it has to do with our children are looked at as potential criminals not potential scholars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This i agree is a violation of a persons civil liberties. What Frekin right or need does a school have for finger prints? identification? are the educators that ignorant they don't know who thier students are by the names and faces? Lunch money.. give the kid a debit/visa gift card to use. no need for finger prints.

In addition i'd ask for the finger print records back from the schoool, both paper and digital copies, and a list of who the school has sent them to, and also get them back.

if they don't want to contact ACLU. let them do the legal challenge of your childs civil liberties being violated. Only person that needs them, if need be is the parents, not anyone else for any othr reason.

Odd that this just now came back up. Last week I was talking to my wife about this and she told me they no longer ask if there are guns in the house. Come to find out it was not a law that they ask, it was a suggestion?!? So, her hospital no longer asks.

Sooooo, apparently making noise does accomplish things ;) I'm befuddled as to why anyone would answer any of those questions anyway unless they wanted to????? AS for the kids lunch/breakfast thing, if you are going to be involved in a Govt. backed program--deal with the requirements or get out of the program--my kids always ate breakfast at home & were given lunch money every day. They also knew to say--"my Dad told me not to do this" if something like finger printing, etc. ever came up. Just saying!

I always liked the idea of fingerprinting, taking yearly photo's of your child (as they would appear in normally, everyday life), etc... I just opted for the home fingerprint kit and put them in the firesafe in the basement instead of the police dept files

I see what you are saying, but it's not a govt. backed program. I have to put this money in the lunch account, if they scan their finger and no money is in the acct......no lunch for that day. I have no problem giving my kids money for the day, packing a lunch..etc. BTW I did take my kids out of the public school after one year

I don't know (been a long time) I seem to remember seeing either finger or foot prints on birth certificates as positive ID & nobody I know of complained. For the lunch money thing it's the times, the age of doing everything by these confound machines, take the human equation out of it, it's no longer the lunch persons fault (who may also pocket money in the eyes of a employer) so you pay for this new tech. that takes care of everything, how many meals, how much to order, getting them served faster & anything else. The kid puts his finger there & it's done, I would be more concerned about where all them thar little fingers may have been. Then again (God forbid) if there should ever be another mass shooting in a school or a body of a child turning up some where it would be another form of quick ID rather than dashing the hopes of every parent with a missing child across the country asking for maybe a intrusive swab from family members.
