Can a Wood Stove Share a Chimney With a Gas Boiler

can you share a chimney with a gas boiler? and do they make power vents for wood stoves like they do for coal/propane if you don't have a real chimny??

By code regulations in most areas, you cannot mix different fuels in one chimney.

No, they don't make or recommend a power vent for a wood stove, since they can burn really hot and it would get out of control too fast pulling the air thru the wood.

Power vent your furnace (or boiler) and use the chimney for the coal stove.

got it. he just bought a house with no heat source in the basment execpt for one hot water baseboard heater (to keep things from freezing) and he wants to finish the basement and put a wood stove down there (can get free fire wood) didnt want to build another chimney and was looking for other options

If it has a hot water baseboard? isn't there a boiler? or is it electric basboard?

A lot of options.....

hot water baseboard,i talked to him about a coal boiler but doesnt want to get that envolved with it, just looking to heat the basement

Sell the wood stove and get a used coal stoker that can be power vented.
Get the free wood and sell for coal.
Still alot less work and safer, just my 2 cents.
