The "Occupy Wall St" Protest

Occupy Boston...
http://www.myfoxboston.com/dpp/news/undercover/menino-speaks-about-occupy-boston

Members of the protest group have been camping out overnight on the Rose Kennedy Greenway since last week, but the city is not requiring the group to get any permits even though that’s what is supposed to happen when groups protest in the city.

The state owns the Greenway land where the protesters are camped out, and electricity is actually being provided to the demonstrators staying there.

A city ordinance prohibits overnight camping. Boston police say the ordinance allows people to only pass through the parks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The city is also picking up trash from the Greenway everyday.

Gee that's a shock - Boston helping a left-wing cause. Shocker shocker shocker ....

I wonder how we'd be treated for protesting the ridiculous gun laws in the state ... Think we'd get to camp on the common, and get FREE (READ: taxpayer funded) electricity??? :gee:

Is history going to repeat itself. Didn't the first American revolution start in Boston. This is almost funny the left was painting the tea party as a bunch of nut balls , they need to take a hard look in the mirror. If the tea party was there with out permits they would put a end to it!

My understanding is that this group was neither left nor right, they just want some action from the Gov. & believe that Wall St. & any others that share blame for the sudden downturn in the economy if there was any wrong doing. The left wanting some of the same just started to align with them, simple as that.

No jpete, if it was good for one then it's good for all, if Corp.s are to run this country then let them have at it, there is no one in DC that can or cares to stop them. This seems to be what most here want so see how much better off we will all be, I'm sure the big money has nothing but our best interests in mind. (for those that are sarcasm impaired that last sentence was sarcasm)

You are right Sam, the big money has their own interests in mind. That is their duty and obligation and that duty is best served by giving us the best products at the best price. High profits lead to expansion and job growth provided that government does not interfere in the marketplace in ways that distort it. We have seen how well that works.

Everything you have had or will have has been made available by private industry. What has government given you?

They quit serving our interests decades ago, moved off shore for the CEOs & top men to get more $, had nothing to do with stockholders profits & I think everyone knows the products are inferior & the prices have gone up while quality down. We are not competeing with China, we are competeing with Chinese made to American Spec.s for American Co.s products. The American Co.s had found that they can make money as middle men, keep headquarters off shore & devide the wealth, now with the Chinese getting more & shipping costs soaring they are beginning to return. That & they see the writing on the wall with their tax havens. Wasn't long ago that Mars Candy came back & others are following.

divide, the word is spelled divide.

So far as that goes I could care less who provides the product until it hurts fellow Americans.

I'm not absolving the CEOs that sent most work abroad. They did what their stockholders wanted them to do to make money.

I'll finish this tomorrow morning when I'm not so inebriated..... :D

And wasn't it government policy primarily responsible for forcing the export of jobs? Leave or die!

I agree that there are corporate sins, such as obscene executive pay granted by rubber stamp boards of directors. These are things government could address but never will because they are the ones appointed to the boards as payoffs. Like Hillary.

Engine Charley Wilson was roundly criticized for saying that "what is good for GM is good for the country". He was dead right but wrong when the country is run by a coalition of corruption as it is today. I think we can agree on that.

I found this video very informative and I never thought I'd say this but my new favorite politician. And I would recommend going to the occupy wall street website and not forming your conclusions on what they are about or who is running them based on the conventional news outlets as they do not provide unbais reporting. There are some great videos on their website. I believe it is http://WWW.occupywallst.org

Sorry about the mispelling there cabinover, how terrible of me. Spelling is one of my downfalls, there are a few of us left in the world that aren't perfect in every way. Heck there might even be some more important things going on in the world than a spelling error.

I definitely agree that some people are lazy and I agree that there are plenty of jobs out there and people have to get off their ass, but that is a completely different issue even if they get jobs that doesn't fix the government and how our society is being run. Something has to be done our politicians have forgotten that they work for us. I do realize also that a lot of people do not turn out for voting which is another problem, but I feel they don't because they realize they don't have a say. Yeah we can vote the better idiot in,but they will still be swayed by the more powerful influence and that's what we have to change. A regular person with normal values should be able to get into politics, but they can't because you need millions of dollars to campaign and advertise. It would cost us less if the government paid for advertising in campaigns than it does by having our interests compromised and only serving the big corporations. I also think if we are going to give money away for unemployment/welfare they should be drug tested first off just like everybody who has to get a normal job and they also should have to do some sort of work for the money. Help clean the streets, mow lawns anything. And I don't think it is too much to ask they are paying you. It would also save cities money on paying private companies to do the work.
