My new throne !!!

My new throne !!!

PostBy: AA130FIREMAN On: Sun Oct 16, 2011 8:22 am

I am replacing a toilet in a 1/2 bath with an american standard pressure assist toilet. The question I have is when looking at the bowl, the upper rim is not exactly even. It is an elongated but the flange is a different width at the front, might it be the mold was not centered when they manufactured. It's not all that bad, just in the front, might be the way they all are made. Any if I remember to put the seat down for the misses, I'll never know. :flush: Is their any value in a used YELLOW american standard toilet

Yellow? As in..."harvest gold"? Might be worth something to someone that has one like it (cracked lid, etc), but don't expect much. Your best bet might be the roadside flea market with a "free sign". If no one takes it, write $10 on the sign. :D

YES, something like that. It might look nice in the yard with flowers coming out of the bowl. :funny: toothy :alone:

Thats where our old one ended up, out in the yard with flowers in it! 1929 American Standard, tank mounted on the wall type.
check your local reuse/recycle place (if you have one), or put up on craigslist, you never know what people are looking for!

Well it's bolted down, but I found the closed flange is cracked :( but the bolts still work ok, will be coming out when I install a new oak floor. It's a castiron closet flange, may try my hand at leading in a new castiron one. I see their is a rubber sponge gasket to replace the wax gasket when radiant floor heating is used. Has me to think'in

How come you're not putting some nice ceramic tile in there. It'd tie into the other flooring nicely?

I like the look of tile, but it's a cold feel on the feet, 1/2 bath so it shouldn't see alot of water. I did give the new throne a baptizing tonight :flush: toothy and I believe the pressure assist can handle anything I can dish out :P

HA! Too much information
Congrats on the new throne. I always like to get the extra tall toilets, but they are too high for my wife.

I was thinking of doing that just to annoy my snooty neighbors. As it is my ce-ment mixer has been parked out in the yard for two months now. :D

Right height and elongated, I do like it, I'm 6' 1" , but I did not hear from the peanut gallery yet. I believe the way the bowl is cast thin in the front due to it being more of a commercial toilet, in a home type tank, doesn't look like a commercial one with the chrome pipe, in the pictures they show it with a C shape seat, not a dounut, so we don't P on it  My mother's aunt said years ago (we went outside to go to the bathroom, and eat inside, now it's the other way around)

Yes, there is some small value to the trash guy when he charges you to take it away. :D
A friend got a power blaster and it frightened me when I tried it. I've never been near artillery but I imagine a German 88 flak gun is quieter.
That can had a rear exit! Basement toilet that just made it to the 4" cast iron pipe tee on the way to their septic. They tiled that floor with the toilet in place, something that is so wrong. But my buddy explained he would have to move the whole horizontal 4" pipe in order to do it correctly.

If you want to mess with leading in your renovation I have all the tools someplace you're welcome to borrow them. You'll have to come and get 'em though. Actually I bet I couldn't find them anyway, only if I was looking for something else. :D I've been told that the rubber Fernco collars are code compliant, easier way to go!
I saw an electronic toilet seat in Costco the other day. I just kept going, I don't want to know what it does. :P

I had used one before in my old place to move a toilet farther away from the wall (kept bumping my knee) but when I redue the floor, I believe I will try a new cast closet flange with the old lead pour and rope deal. It should last me out, and not rust as fast as a skimpy steel flange on the pvc type.

After looking over the Underwriters (UL) website this afternoon, I noticed the following.

ANSI Z21.60 Gas-fired toilets

What exactly is a Gas-fired toilet?

I'M not 100% sure, but I seem to remember hearing of and incenerating toilet, that all you need to do is dump the ashes on the lawn. Good for a hunting cabin that lacks the little house with a 1/4 moon door :D
