Hello all,

I am selling my current stove but want to repair it first, but can't figure out what the heck is wrong with it! The first two years it worked great, but now it has this horrible vibration/grating noise when the blower is on high. The problem is, when I turn the rheostat down even a 1/4 inch or so towards low, the fire goes out! Now I have it running dry to try to figure it out and it seems I can't get the grate to move. Any help is much appreciated! I'll sell it as is but at least want to be honest and tell the people what could be wrong. Thanks all, this is my first stove and I'm a single chick who's not all that mechanical ;)

Probably needs a good cleaning and then some oiling.

Search this post it is pretty much the same stoker assembly.
Old Alaska Kodiak Stoker II Rebuild
It is a pretty simple set up.
What are you looking to get for the unit?

I'm asking $500 and that includes 10 coal mice and a half ton of coal. I'm kind of giving it away I know, but there's not much of a market for coal stoves in my area. I see the grate is moving now, but still concerned about the noise. Thanks, I'm cleaning it now and I'll check out that post.

I'm actually not sure. The manual that was given to me says it's the Kast Console II, but the label says Alaska Kodiak Stoker Stove I, which I think is about 45,000 BTU.
