This Heatrola is certainly not going to be my final stove it is sort of my experimental model, i was kind of looking for something that will burn bit coal which i can buy 2 miles from home for 170 per ton stove size, this year before trying bit coal i thought i would try anth. (that way I have a reasonable chance of selling my wife on coal heat)

Preacher,

Actually, those heaterola's were designed for bit coal along with the warm mornings of the same vintage.

Any info on firing with bit coal, techniques, banking? size? how full etc. would be great! Don't worry about insulting my intelligence, as far as coal fired stoves are concerned I don't have any! I thought maybe adding stove size bit to an anthracite fire at shake time banking toward the secondary air inlets (enters stove through holes below door sill)this is preheated air drawn down through top of stove via cast iron tubes beside door either side.I would leave half of the coal bed exposed to burn off volatiles?

The secondary air tubes are to help burn off the hydrocarbons in Bituminous Coal. Your stove will like lump Bituminous just fine. And since you took the time to properly over haul it, it should perform just fine as well.
