Suppose its the new idea business management theroies taught anymore, you need us, the suppliers, more than we need you the consumers.
When they state that it reduces cost, they are talking about total installed cost that includes a labor rate for a skilled worker. Materials costs are usually more but labor savings will make up the difference and then some.
Personally, I would'nt use a 1-1/4 hydraulic separator. It is limited to 15 gpm. If you are piping the system yourself, buy a good air separator and pipe it primary, secondary with closely spaced tees. Save the hydraulic separators for the larger mutiple boiler systems.
