To hound or not to hound?

To hound or not to hound?

PostBy: chevymatt On: Mon Oct 24, 2011 6:07 pm

Quick question for everyone. I ordered my s260 awhile back. They told me 4-5 weeks till complete. 2 weeks ago was 5 weeks and I called and Ben said he would be contacting me last week. He didn't. Would you guys hound him or wait for the call you've been anxiously waitin for? I'm like a small kid on Christmas morning. To make things worse I got 11 tons of buck delivered this past Friday. Damn my luck. Haha

Hey I know how it is. I have called in similar situations. I think if you're polite at least you'll know where you stand. It sucks when someone else has something you want sometimes.
You could say, " Sorry, I'm not trying to hound you, just real anxious to see my excellent new S260! "

I have a line on an IH Cub Cadet I want really bad. But the lady is so finicky and mousy I'm holding back so as not to look too anxious. I'm working fixing up the lady's dilapidated house; maybe when she owes me enough money she'll barter. I joined a Cub Cadet forum, and the guy almost wouldn't let me in! I thought the model was 101, no such thing. I think it's a 100. The moderator thought I was spam.

Also waiting for a stupid camp coffee pot from Ebay, it's been forever. There's a damn UPS tracking number at least. It should be here soon.

Three weeks ago, I ordered a Hitzer. Was told it would be here in a week. I was told the other day, it will be mid Nov. I am about to cancel the check, and use the money to buy wood!!! I want something when I want it, and If I am told something I expect it to be that way.

UNDER PROMISE, OVER DELIVER. GUARANTEE NOTHING.

That is how I work. A project manager comes to me. When can you have this done? (two-three day job). I tell them within 6 working days. Then they are happy as crud when I call them two days later and tell them its online and ready for use.

I did a three week project in 8 days once. Got 3 days of paid leave for it. They told me to take the rest of the week off, and bill the project for my time...

Call them and ask for a firm delivery date. Production delays can happen, but they should keep you posted. If they can't deliver in the next two weeks, your install window will be pretty short. Do you have another means of heat?

My .02 says to call Ben and email them. They have always delivered everything to me as promised at the stated price. If you choose to go elsewhere, be advised that your 'slot' will be quickly filled and you might have to settle for something less than you originally ordered. I remember well a few seasons back when Keystoker had too many orders to fill and not enough time or parts to build the ones ordered. Many went elsewhere, but there was no real emergency on their part because a few of us didn't plan well ahead. I've done the coal thing for some time, and find that PPPPPPP (the RULE of seven p's) will serve you better than p***ing and moaning on the forum. Don't forget to say 'Thank You" to the fine folks who design, manufacture and support the lifetime coal fired appliances. Check your PM's for more info. Remember it's a Monday...... :?:  :)

Not to chastise, but to wait until late summer to order a boiler is optimistic. That is when everyone else decides to order their heating equipment. Kinda like the leaky roof, if it ain't leaking, don't fix it. Many people treat their heating systems the same way, if you don't need heat, don't fix it until you do. Unfortunately, the order load for supplies and parts in the fall can screw up manufacturing times for the manufacturer. Sometimes lead times slip without warning.

No hurt to give them a call every two weeks to check on the status.

It doesn't hurt to send a friendly email just asking for an update. We were originally told two weeks when we placed the order last week for an s130 and the invoice has a delivery date of three weeks out. When we had asked a local dealer before ordering, they told us expect 8 weeks.
Where did you order your coal delivery from? We are near Greene and haven't decided whether to go with bagged or bulk yet. Marsha

Thanks for all the replies from everyone. Patience has never been one of my strong points.

shipping depart. called me to setup delivery, which was 3 days later, they sub out their shipping to delivery companies, truck shows up to deliver and guy tells me he cant back into my driveway because anything past that he is responsible for, yep just what i wanted half ton stoker sitting on the main road in front of my house, Ben if your reading these are things customers need to know, that was friggin ridiculous, got my side by side and some rope and thankfully it was bolted to a heavy duty pallet and i pulled it up to my barn where i am installing it, thank god everything went smooth

Wow now you got me nervous. Mine was picked up today and is supposed to be delivered Monday. I have an 800' driveway and were supposed to get snow tomorrow. Did you call and talk to Ben about that B.S? I may not even be around because I work on powerlines and if we get hammered with snow i'll be at work. Should my 5month pregnant wife be responsible for dragging this $9000 anchor up the driveway. This wont fly
