Last winter was my first year with my Keystoker,LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Now it's time to play, having gone from a Heat pump to coal has cut my electric bill in half but I'd like to cut it more. I was thinking of clamping a coil of copper tube to the side of my Keystoer with an aluminum heat shield on the outside to preheat my well water before it goes into my electric hot water heater. Is there a downside to to this and if so what or a better way to accomplish this task? Also last winter there was a guy who posted about bringing cold air from outside to feed the intake of the stove. Does anyone know how I could find that post?

There is already and established thread titled

Type that into the search bar and happy reading.

Do a search on EXTERNAL HOT WATER Coil, been discussed and has some good pictures.

There are also kit online to mount directly on the side of you stove too.

a search on "outdoor combustion air" brought up a few threads on this topic...happy reading!! Basically it is just a 2" to 4" pipe coming from outside and terminating near the combustion fan. Looks like there is a thread to help calculate the size pipe.
