Snow in Tully, NY (16 miles south of Syracuse) on October 27, 2011. This is early, even for Central NY. I know Buffalo always get the news coverage for snow but Syracuse is the current holder of the Golden Snowball Award of NYS. 179" last winter, 121.1" normal season average, and all time season record of 192.1" (1992-1993). I'm hoping we are not repeat winners again this year.

Forecast is now calling for 2-4" of snow in Sussex County, NJ by tomorrow evening. It's not even November yet. Its way too early for this. Seriously. I nearly slipped and fell on my deck leaving for work this morning, there was frost.

I know it's not Florida, but after living in Tennessee for 8 years and then moving BACK to CNY (because wife became a grandmother :bop: ) I am having problems "re-adjusting" to the weather. Oh well, at least I can stay warm and cozy this winter with my "new" coal stove.

33° this morning & the damn sanders are out dumping vehicle-dissolving salt all over the roads ....... so MA can collect more sales tax when these brand new cars are junk in 5 years. Ain't New England grand? :|

Anyway, the Blazer went on it's maiden voyage carrying the wifey to work. Had to take her out last night for some carburetor training 101 . What NOT to do.

Looks like I finished the project just in time! The Marquis came home last night covered in snow! That was a first. Been almost 9 years since that last happened. Dodged another bullet. 8-)

Now to start carrying iron & steel to the basement, & joining it together in such a way that will burn coal & heat my house & boiler!

Rain and wind yesterday in Philly, just cold and breezy at my house 40 miles west of Philly. A friend in the poconos had her wood stove fired up and had snow coming down last night.
Not looking forward to snow...

Well this has sucked. Probably 4-6 inches of wet slush, and no power for 3 days. Met Ed's saying they'll get to us after 11/7.

Same here, utility company has said maybe Thursday or maybe Friday. They stress maybe. My whole town now has power, the development where my wife and I live, not so much. At least we have heat.

Yes, its about damn time too. Although, Saturday my wife and I got home from running some errands and she steps out of the truck and immediately goes, "What's that smell? Did the septic come out of the ground again?"

"No, hon. It's probably the stove."

"No, it's a septic smell." She says to me as she hands me a shovel. "Go dig the snow up and see."

She wouldn't listen to me so I had to go dig up the snow to make sure. Then I had to explain to her that sometimes the coal in the stove smells "funny".
