Anyone remotely monitoring boiler temp, etc.

PostBy: coalkirk On: Sun Oct 30, 2011 6:29 pm

I don't want to reinvent the wheel and I'm guessing at least a few of the clever fellows on this forum are doing this. I'd like to be able to tell what the boiler temp is from the family room. Is there a simple inexpensive way to do this?

how about a wireless camera, then run it into an input on your TV...just switch inputs and you can see your boiler and temps.

I have thought about a way to use my iPhone to monitor house temps.

This item caught my eye when researching this: http://www.igrillinc.com/

WTG01 Monitor Supply & Return Water Temps - Wireless receiver (Up to 100 feet away), easy installation, very accurate, large bright LCD with backlight, batteries included (lasts about a year), 2 probes included (Stainless Steel), Monitors 32-392° F, high and low alarms. This remote thermometer was designed for cooking food; however, it works great for monitoring your boiler’s water temperature and is inexpensive

In reading the reviews of this unit, one person said the two units have to be in line of sight of one another. Is that the case?

If its Infrared, then they have to be inline with each other. If RF or FM transmitter, then no.

Specs don't really say. Best to ask the man who actually has one I guess. I'd hate to buy it and not be able to use it. The dual probes are a nice feature.

The receiver displays barbecue temperatures up to 572 degrees Fahrenheit and features a convenient belt clip and built in stand. The transmitter has a removable wire stand that also becomes a hanger. The food probe wire can be inserted 6” into meat; both probe wires are heat resistant to 716 degree Fahrenheit. This unit can be used in oven or smoker too! Many of the disgruntled users on Amazon.com reported that it would not work as little as 10 feet away if the signal was going through a wall. If it did work, it would be a great thing to have.
