Blue Jeans and other clothing made by prisoners in Oregon. Prison Blues. www.prisonblues.com. Also clothing made by All American Clothing Company. Both are excellent quality and good prices.

Both my stoves were made here in the USA. You may say,"so what," they were made over 100 years ago. Yes, that's true but they were salvaged and restored by companies here, and sold here by an American company that re marketed them. So by purchasing these I kept the money spent right here while preserving some of the best examples of our great manufacturing heritage.

My policy here in my machine shop is USA products only. If not available then an import is acceptable. I have a product line that I could very easily sent to China to be manufactured and made a killing, but the parts are PROUDLY made right here in the USA. Put up or shut up thats what I always say!

A lot more of that attitude & I think we would be in a lot better shape then we currently are. :out: :flush: Of course USA pricing would be THE big issue also.

I went as far as taking the Port Jefferson ferry with my truck and crossing Long Island Sound to purchase an American made washing machine.

The machine is made by Staber, but honestly I have not been very happy with it. Great design, great potential, but not as good as it could be. My next washing machine will be a German made Miele.

I just changed the air filter in my car yesterday. The old one was imprinted "NAPA 3688 Made in USA". The new one was imprinted "NAPA 3688 Made in Mexico". While I'm glad Mexico can make something besides illegal drugs, I felt bad to see the difference in two filters bought a couple years apart. Perhaps next time I will open the box at the store, and ask them if they have a model made here. Probably I will get a funny look, but imagine if we all did it.

I know that I do it--soooo, if you do it, that's two of us--let's go the "Alices's Restaurant" route & turn this into a movement. ;)

I was really close to buying one of those but once I dug a little further in my research I found quite a few people that were not real happy with them in some way or another. I ended up buying a Whirlpool Duet Sport pair and have been quite happy with them. The washer isn't one of those enormous capacity units, but it uses a minuscule amount of water and for a family of 3 or 4 it would be sufficient.

I will add that while shoping for tires for the VW yesterday I found that Hankook tires made in Korea and Cooper tires made here were within two dollars of one another with the same mileage claim and warranty.I am heartened by the fact that we are beginning to go head to head with them on some big ticket items. In addition I have always had good performance from the Cooper line. There should never, repeat never,be any money leave this counrty when things are an even match.
