Morning all

I picked up some Schuylkill Coal from Hocon Gas in Torrington on Friday seems to burn well. I talked to Frank about delivering to Haddam or bringing to his Guilford location he cannot afford to bring one or two pallets to Guilford but would be willing to divert a full tractor trailer load (18 pallets) his issue is that he does not have a large storage area so the coal would have to be picked soon after the delivery. It does not make sense for be to travel to Torrington from Haddam to get a pallet or two of coal the amount of fuel it takes. If anyone is interested in having Hocon deliver to Guilford let me know and I can arrange. I need 4 to 5 pallets.
Thanks

Probably too far for me, but knowing the price would help with the decision.

I was burning that 2 years ago, good coal. I tried to get Bill to bring down pallets to Guilford last year and he gave me the "so busy they couldn't get to it" routine. I go by there almost everyday, I'll stop and talk to Bill next chance I get and see if he can push Frank into a more reasonable deal, 21 tons is a little much.

Thanks

We really need a place on the shorline that we can get coal, Haddam to Bristol is not bad Torrington is a haul. It cost me over about 50.00 of fuel in my buddies small dump for a pallet of coal not cost effective.

I just talked to Bill, apparently this guy Frank is not a marketing genius. 18 ton minimum for coal and 22 ton for pellets, Bill can't really sell any solid fuel even though his showroom is full of those appliances! He does have a pallet of nut (2400#) left over from last year. If you want it, tell him Ian sent you and you can have it for $335, last years price.

If you can swing it check out my post on coal in CT . Much better deal if you can get a few folks together to get a TT load. Hocon is NOT my favorite group. Really screwed me last year. Good luck.

From Haddam why don't you jump on Rt.9 north and go to Household Coal in New Britain? Should be much closer to you than Bristol.

It is also a much better experience. ;) Built in 1918, the coal silos are visible from the highway, the office is like a museum and the rusting relics around the yard give you an idea of our hobby's advancement over the years. Al is a bit of a trip too. :)

Coaledsweat's right. It's a unique place. If you go, check out the inside office. Al, the owner, is great. I'm sure he'd match whatever Bristol has for price. I'm burning some now. It's from Jeddo. Burns great in my Hitzer and I'll soon be using it in my Axeman.

Here are those silos. And Al filling up the Ford. Heck, since you're in the area, stop by and see the Iwo Jima Memorial nearby in Newington and say hello to Ira Hayes and Michael Strank. It's what I did.

I saw Billy this morning. He still has a 2400# pallet of nut and wants it gone, he'll let it go for $300, that's $250 a ton bagged, not a bad price. :)
