South Tamaqua Coal Pockets vs American Premium

PostBy: butchs37 On: Tue Nov 01, 2011 5:08 pm

South Tamaqua Coal Pockets is getting $190 a ton and American Premium I know is cheaper but could not reach them to get a price (got home from work too late). Is South Tamaqua Coal Pockets worth the difference in price? I have burned American Premium about 3 yrs ago but bought buck instead of rice. Also burned South Tamaqua Coal Pockets about 15 years ago but heard they have gotten better since then. I need to go tomorrow and get 3 tons of rice for my stoker as I am completely out. If anyone has burned both of these recently which would you suggest?

Just started burning 4 ton of rice from American Premium and I can tell you It IS not PREMIUM!!!! Compared to last years load . Seems to me there the BTU's aren't there but the wood and dirt are. Good Luck. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I have burned American "Premium" nut coal, never ever again! My uncle also had a bad load of rice coal from American Premium. South Tamaqua is the most consistent coal I have ever burned. However I am always looking for something better. This season I am trying UAE Harmony coal?

Yea UAE is good stuff burned it before but with a 1 or 2 ton limit it is not worth me driving the extra distance as I would like to get enough to fill my bin in 1 shot . I had to pick up two bags of blaschak at SOS stoves in Port Murry N.J. today they also sell it in 1.2 ton bags so I asked what they get for it and almost fell on the floor. $348 cash and $358 credit and no delivery.
