Bought this 900W 2-stroke gen from Harbor Freight for $92 shipped to my door. Should've known. Went out this morning after screwing with the thing most of the day yesterday just to get a normal, steady rpm out of it (damn EPA non-adjustable carburetor settings, as usual). Get the thing running .... and the minute you get far enough away from it to start working, it surges up & down wildly, then dies.
Well, I tuned it up REAL GOOD this morning. It was 6am & 25° out. Was in no mood for this BS!
After I calmed down I raised the fuel level & cleaned the petcock (yeah, that's quality right there on a brand new gen ... ). Runs ok now.
Damn Junk Chinese Generator! What a #*@!Ing POS!!
The $92 you paid for it wasn't to receive a working generator....oh no......
That $92 is the price paid for the calories burned off by the repair exercise and stress level of owning it!!
Think of the money saved over a health club membership!
Anytime I get something from Harbor Freight I think of it as a 1 time use item. Anything more than that is gravy. The last thing was a wet saw for doing the tile on kitchen backsplash, I think I could actually get another two projects out of that thing.

That looks like the same type my wife's Wal-Mart carries. Only they are selling it for $499. My wife's sister asked me if it was a good brand. Without actually ever using one I replied, "I wouldn't trust it. But you can if you want."
Sorry you are having trouble with it. Hopefully it works better now that you worked on it.

Does that thing have a float or an metering diaphram with needle?? Yeah, sometimes those needle-lifters are bent too much or not enough...
I guess your getting ready to put on the wheel conversion kit, since you already removed 2 of the feet???

Great site! I spent a few hours there last night. Got sidetracked with the "hot girls" thread.
