Had my WG100 furnace in the shop for about 10 years now. Bought it used and always burned wood in it. Had a problem with my wood supply this year (279 acres and no wood? Long story.) Anyway, had a little bit of dry firewood left from last year so I started a small wood fire, than dumped on a bag of nut coal I had. Holy cow did it burn nice! Took my bin over to a local dealer and got 3/4 ton. Happier than hell! Only problem I have is that one of the grates has the shaker stub broken off so I can only shake down 2 of the 3. Just burnes a little slower on that side is all and when it gets down, I just run an old poker Dad had made down under the coal and sift the ashes down on the broken side. I only need to keep it above freezing in there when I can't get down to work in there for a few days. The shop is about half way to my other job so I stop in the morning, and again at night, on my way to and from work, and shake the ashes and add a little coal. Better than having to get down there whenever possible and relighting half the time.

There ya GO...ya cant beat Antracite for peace of mind! them Ol Gal's hold a fire all day and nite with little supervision.
That is why I love my Glenwood I can give her a shake in the O'Early A.M. throw some coal on her an go to work...come home 12 hrs. later and remove the ashes from the morning with an open ash door too livin up the fire in my 5 minute adventure ..chuck her full again, give that 10 minutes to warm up the new coal and put her back in cruise control for the nite.
My total time in dealin with the Gal takes 15 minutes in the evening max. ;)

Long burn times can even be even more adventageous than the low labor of burning coal. :)
